Chuo-ku at night: Light-up tour
In addition to the works of international lighting designer Mikiko Ishii, introduced in the previous blog post, there are also interesting lights that can be viewed in Chuo-ku.
Wako Main Building (formerly Hattori Clock Store Headquarters Building)
First of all, the Wako Main Building, which can be said to be a symbol of Ginza. It is a magnificent light-up with a white light gradation.
By the way, this year, the Wako Main Building has been renovated and the name will be changed to SEIKO HOUSE GINZA. According to Seiko Holdings' announcement (December 16, 2021), the store will open after renovation on June 10, 2022. The rooftop with the clock tower will be the "Sky Garden" for customers.
Ginza Mitsukoshi (Main Building)
Light up of Ginza Mitsukoshi's "Ginza Chandelier" that began in November 2020. The photo above shows the gorgeous gold selected from 3 colors (gold, blue, pink) as a result of the 1st anniversary questionnaire campaign (lighted from 18:00 on December 25, 2021).
By the way, at the same night, Ginza Place was lit up with the image of a Christmas tree.
Young clock tower
A young clock tower created by Taro Okamoto installed in Sukiyabashi Park in 1966. Colorful and fun light-up of red, yellow, blue, green and purple.
Until a public toilet was built behind the young clock tower, I was able to appreciate the light-up on the back.…。 I'm a little disappointed.
Mitsui Main Building
The Mitsui Main Building was designated as a national important cultural property in 1998. The lighting up of the Colint-style order column on the outer wall of the building is spectacular, and when you look at it, you will forget that you are standing on the street corner of Nihonbashi.
Chuo-ohashi Bridge and Shinohashi Bridge
The two bridges that were developed in the Heisei era are Chuo-ohashi Bridge and Shinohashi Bridge, which ran ahead of the Sumidagawa Bridges (10 bridges), which were illuminated in 2020.
The light-up of Chuo-ohashi Bridge emphasizes the main tower designed with a helmet hoe-shaped motif. Shin-ohashi Bridge is a light-up that dynamically creates a combination of two yellow main towers and a straight bridge girder.

Tokyo Skytree
The Tokyo Sky Tree (located next to Sumida-ku) can be viewed from Chuo-ku. Light-up with the theme of seasonal and occasional topics is being developed. The photo above is a Christmas limited edition lighting in December 2021, featuring the Tokyo Sky Tree inspired by fir trees with champagne gold light.
Light-up tour in Chuo-ku…There are still many things to see.
