Specifically, the sister city of Sazaland, Australia, and a friendship city.
"Higashine City, Yamagata Prefecture" and "Fujikawaguchiko Town, Yamanashi Prefecture" are located in the interchange city.
We also have exchanges with Hinohara Village, Tokyo, Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture, Tochigi City, Tochigi Prefecture, etc.

In 1989, the exchange with the city of Sazaland was introduced by the Embassy of Japan in Australia.
It started with junior high school students visiting each other and having a homestay.
In 1991, a sister city tie-up was signed in both cities, and since then junior high school students have mutual friendship.
Every year, we conduct an exchange project that introduces each other's cities, focusing on homestay exchanges.


With Higashine City, Yamagata Prefecture, we received the donation of cherry saplings in 1988.
The exchange began, and it became a friendship city in 1991. "Cherry Festival" and "Snow Festival"
We are deepening exchanges through various events such as this.
The Snow Festival is held once every two years, carrying 20 trucks of snow from Higashine City, Yamagata Prefecture.
The 21st event was scheduled for February this year, but unfortunately it was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The next event is scheduled to be held in February 2023.

In addition, the 20th Fruit Tree Kingdom Higashine Sakurabo Marathon was held in the city.
It is scheduled for June 5 of this year, but in Chuo-ku, participants of this tournament (resident, attending school, working in the ward)
It is said that a Chuo-ku original T-shirt will be presented as a souvenir.

Fujikawaguchiko Town, Yamanashi Prefecture was the opportunity of the construction of Villa Motosu, a ward health village in 1989.
