It has a history of about 30 years.
Thank you, Harumi Passenger Terminal!
Hello. Hanes is getting longer at home due to the cold winter.
Meanwhile, we visited the Harumi Passenger Terminal, which is close to closing on February 20 (Sun), aiming for a relatively warm day.
I've heard from a long time that the terminal will be dismantled after the global sports festival ends due to several reasons such as the size of cruise ships and the aging of facilities, but at the end of last year, the Tokyo Metropolitan Port and Harbor Bureau announced the closing date.
Since then, I have seen a lot of people visiting Harumi Pier on social media to see the last figure of the terminal up close.
Unfortunately, due to the application of priority measures such as prevention of spread related to COVID-19 infection, the exhibition that looked back on the history of the Harumi Passenger Terminal, which was scheduled to be held from February 1 was postponed.
Will it still be closed and dismantled?
With the desire to open again, we will introduce the history and current situation of the Harumi Passenger Passenger Terminal with the main photograph.
History and Building
The Harumi Passenger Terminal was opened on May 23, 1991 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the opening of the port of Tokyo.
The Yomiuri Shimbun, dated May 17, 2015, stated, "The terminal is a futuristic appearance covered with a nine-story white mesh steel frame," "There are halls, observation decks, galleries, restaurants, and not only passengers on passenger ships on foreign routes, but also ordinary visitors."
On August 22 of the same year, "It is a strong mark and landmark that foresee the future of the waterfront," "A romantic mood drifts at night when the entire terminal is lit up, and there are many couples who talk happily. "
From here, you can see that various expectations have been put in since the opening, and that it was a place that has been loved and loved by visitors.
As a matter of fact, it was exactly right, and since the Rainbow Bridge looked beautiful, it was a place where visitors were constantly visiting day and night.
In addition to shooting as a location for a number of works, the object "Fu medium Ginran" by Michio Ihara is often taken up as an Instagram spot, and I have visited many times.
The characteristic building of the Harumi Passenger Ship Terminal, which can be found immediately on the opposite bank or on the Rainbow Bridge, was designed by the late Minoru Takeyama.
He is one of the leading architects of postmodern architecture who also worked on "SHIBUYA 109".
The white mesh-like steel frame is like a triangular roof.
Here's a little aside.
It's like this black tower right next to the iconic building of the terminal, but many of you may be worried about this?
According to the Japan Coast Guard, this is called "Harumi Signal Station" and controls traffic in the port.
What does the flashing of "F" in the photo mean is "free signal (both entry and departure possible)".
There are also various other signals, and you can check it here for details.
If you visit the port after you have knowledge of such signals in mind, you may be able to enjoy a walk more♪
What is the current situation?
As for the current situation of the Harumi Passenger Terminal (as of February 12, 2022), due to the influence of COVID-19 infection, the entire area inside and outside the building has been closed for the time being.
As you can see, pedestrian passages are also closed and are closed, but buses and vehicles seem to be able to enter and exit.
However, there are only a few remaining until closing and dismantling, so I was impressed by a relatively large number of visitors to photography regardless of men and women of all ages.
We decided to change the schedule and look at Harumi Passenger Terminal from promenade (North Route) on the north side of Rainbow Bridge for the first time in a long time!
(* The south promenade (South route) is closed until March 14, but Chuo-ku can be seen on the north side.)
Photographs of the Harumi Passenger Ship Terminal illuminated by the sunset, and the chimney of the buildings, tower apartments, and Harumi Incineration Plant used in the global sports festival.
After the terminal closes, the building will be ready for demolition, but you can enjoy it for a while.
When you visit the waterfront area, why don't you take a look at the history of about 30 years?
