"Ginza Willow" Growth Diary ~ Spring 2022 ~
Hello. I'm Hanes, an active correspondent.
I'm sorry to just talk about willows recently, but this is the growth report of "Ginza willows", which has been raised at my parents' home for the first time in a year.
About three years have passed since we received seedlings at the "13th Ginza Yanagi Festival" held on May 5, 2019, and the willow of our parents' home has grown to more than 3m.
(Click here for the report on receiving seedlings.)
"Ginza willows" raised at parents' home (partially blurred to make it easier to see willows.)
The trunk was about 4 cm in diameter, reaching the maximum thickness that I could hold with my thumb and forefinger.
I can't reach the willows planted on the streets of Ginza, but I'm impressed that I grew up so far!
And this year the flowers bloomed for the first time! (Because I missed the peak and photographed it, it is a state of the end of blooming.)
One year ago, I introduced a tuna loquat (commonly known as a banana insect), but this time I found another creature!
First of all, ants are often found everywhere.
Perhaps because the young shoots of willows are still small, the ants look big.
In addition, the spider, known as the "Human Spider", was also dexterously crawling on the narrow branches of willows.
When I hit the branch lightly, the spider was about to fall to the ground, but as shown in the photo, there was a thread, so it became a bungee jumping state and swayed in the wind with willows. (If you are not good at spiders, please read it!)
And looking up at willows, the growth in the past year is obvious.
In the spring of 2021, the number of branches was small and it was still early to weep.
A year later, it has become so great!
It is exactly "Ginza willow that is nice to plant."
This "Ginza willow that is happy to plant" is the lyrics of "Ginza willow" composed by Yaju Saijo and composed by Shinpei Nakayama, and the first lyrics and score are "Ginza willow" at Ginza 8-chome. Monument "is engraved.
As an aside, there are potted willows in addition to local planted willows.
It's also growing steadily, though it's small.

Perhaps you may have noticed, but there are creatures here that live willows.
It is a shakuga larvae that imitates the branch in the foreground and sticks upright.
The willow branches are still thin, so it's a little thicker to imitate the branches.
There are many types of shakuga family, so I don't know which one is, but if you put a clear photo, it will be a caution to read, so here I will refrain from self-restraint and post only one sheet.
Can "Ginza willows" from the city coexist well with such creatures?
I'm looking forward to seeing you in the future.♪
In May, when the young leaves of "Ginza willow" are dazzling, various events are scheduled in Chuo-ku.
Specifically, please see event information on Chuo-ku Tourism Association official website.
