It is scheduled to open on December 4 this year! The present of the complex "Book Forest Chuou"

Hello. I'm Hanes, an active correspondent.
The other day, when I used the Chuo Ward Kyobashi Library, I saw a notice of relocation.
It opened until August 31 (Wednesday), and after a closed period (relocation preparation period) from Thursday, September 1 to December 3 (Saturday), relocation on December 4 (Sunday). It will be newly opened at the destination "Honnomori Chuou" (1-13-14, Shintomi, Chuo-ku).

The book forest Chuo, which is currently under construction, is a facility with six floors above ground and one floor below the ground, inspired by a place where people can meet and interact in a peacefulness like a forest.
In addition to the Kyobashi Library and Local Museum, there are also disaster prevention warehouses, cafes, regional archives, gallery space, study rooms, lounges and rooftop gardens.
Not only will it be a new place for relaxation and exchange for local residents, but it is also close to Hatchobori Station, so it will be a place where station users can easily drop in due to time adjustment etc. .

In the article on August 18, 2021, "Scheduled to open in the summer of 2022," I told you about the situation at that time, but it has been about nine months since then.
At the time of photography in this article (May 4), construction has already progressed until the exterior of the building can be imagined, and you can also see floors with unique layouts and stairs leading to the rooftop garden.

And at the Kyobashi Library after the relocation, there is a nice change in the number of seats and the number of books.
Currently, the number of seats is 166 and the number of books is 342,000, but after relocation, the number of seats has been expanded to about 450 and the number of books has been expanded to about 420,000!
I'm looking forward to reading more slowly than ever before.

Now, let's take a brief look back on the history of the Kyobashi Library.
The Kyobashi Library was established as the Tokyo City Library in August 1910, 112 years ago.
At that time, it was opened as the Tokyo City Kyobashi Simple Library in Kyobashi Hirone Elementary School.
The building relocated in 1922 (Daisho 11) burned down in the Great Kanto Earthquake of the following year, and was newly built and rebuilt at its current location in 1929 (Showa 4), which was temporarily relocated.
Then, in 1970 (Showa 45), it opened on the first and second floors of the central government office after rebuilding.

According to the Bunkyo Ward Masago Library "Masago" No. 144 (issued on August 1, 1989), at the time of 1944 (Showa 19), Tokyo had 27 metropolitan libraries in addition to the Hibiya Library as a central library. It seems that there was.
Among them, only four libraries, Surugadai, Kyobashi, Nihonbashi, and Tsukishima, were intact after the bombing of World War II.
(* The municipal library will be in 1950, a few years after the birth of Chuo-ku in 1947.)

However, it is still early to surprise that the library in Chuo-ku was "it's amazing that everything was intact"!
Only the Kyobashi Library was a library that continued to be browsed without being closed during the war.
What kind of people worked and used during the war?...。

The Kyobashi Library has been visited by local residents about 90 years ago.
While looking forward to opening at the relocation site, I would like to use the current library while thinking about its long history until the museum is closed.
