Tokiwa Elementary School Annex 1F Gallery "Nihonbashi History Archives" will explore Nihonbashi with a history of 400 years beyond space and time! "

Did you know that there is "Nihonbashi History Archives" in the Gallery on the 1st floor of Tokiwa Elementary School Annex in Chuo Ward?

That's also free. It's worth a look and I recommend it. Please feel free to take a look.

"The 400 Years of the Nihonbashi area and the future."

In the space, you can experience the history of the Nihonbashi area from the floor to the wall, visual video, CG video, and interview video.

The exhibition consists of five sections and conveys the tradition and present of Nihonbashi through video materials flowing from three monitors, reproduction of Edo Castle, and oral biography of people involved in Nihonbashi (live voices).

This gallery is hosted by Tokiwa School Alumni Association (Chairman Takashi Hashimoto). When Mr. Hashimoto himself became the chairman of the Nihonbashi "Toyoda" in 1869, when he had a residence at the current Nihonbashi Elementary School in Saigo Takamori, the second landlady heard directly that Saigo Takamori came to eat sushi at the stall of Toyoda's predecessor, Sushiya.

The best view in the world is the Arched bridge, which is particularly expensive from the middle of Nihonbashi.

You can see the whole view of Edo, such as Edo Castle and Mount Fuji.

In Nihonbashi, there is a giboshi that is allowed for a formal public bridge.

Kitazume is full of young people on the vigorous fish shore and people from all sides.

From the Edo period to the present, Nihonbashi is the starting point of five highways (Tokaido, Nakasendo, Nikko, Oshu and Koshu Kaido). The sky of Nihonbashi was covered by highways at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, but I would like to look up at the blue sky of Nihonbashi, where the expressway was removed in 2040.

From the early Edo period to the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, the Nihonbashi Fish Bank supported the kitchen centered on the fish culture of Edo and Tokyo. The market has also moved from Tsukiji to Toyosu now.

Utilizing the waterway of the Nihonbashi River, which continues from the Sumida River, the development of waterways has been promoted since the early Edo period, and a large amount of goods were transported from all over the country to the fish shore using vertical and horizontal waterways.

"Edo Castle Tower" is a work that reproduces the appearance of the last castle tower of Edo Castle and how the castle tower was created in VR. He reported on cultural properties related to the Edo Shogunate made during the same period, and reproduced more than one million members digitally. If the Edo Castle castle tower did not burn down by the great fire of the Meiryaku era that occurred in the 4th Shogun Iezuna in 1657, it is reproduced by synthesizing it on the Tokyo 3D map what would have been if it remained until now.
