A small art space at Ginza Station
Did you know that a statue of Tokuji Hayakawa, called the "Father of the Subway," is installed in the underground concourse at Tokyo Metro Ginza Station? Although many people go too far, it seems that not many people realize that this person is the first great predecessor in Japan to envision and lay the subway. I would like to reiterate the achievements that lead to the convenience of today's urban transportation.
Right next to the statue of Hayakawa Okina, there is [Metro Ginza Gallery] established and managed by the Tokyo Metro Cultural Foundation. It feels like a small "street corner gallery", but I think it is a valuable place that heals the moments of busy urban life. Special exhibitions are held from time to time on three sides, so you can enjoy familiar art. Even if you visit Ginza Station during commuting or shopping, be sure to stop by.
The "Geidai Art Journey Exhibition" is being held until July 28. The works of those who graduated or finished at Tokyo University of the Arts are introduced in three phases. Please enjoy the masterpieces of young and future-rich artists. You may be able to find a big deal in the future. Please enjoy the art space in the middle of the town.
