Chuo-ku also #Environment Day is green!
Green Light Up in the Ginza and Nihonbashi areas
Hello. I'm Hanes, an active correspondent.
June 5 was World Environment Day, which was set by the United Nations.
In Japan, it is known as "Environment Day" and holds events to promote and raise awareness of environmental conservation activities in various places.
At Akatsuki Park in Chuo-ku, the "Eco Festival" was held from 10:00 to 15:00, which was full of families (we will introduce in another article at a later date).
In addition, the “#Environment Day is Green” project promoted by the Ministry of the Environment, landmark facilities in various places were lit up in greens inspired by the environment.
In the Ginza / Nihonbashi area, nine buildings are dyed green, and this time we will deliver the situation mainly in photography.
Ginza area
Armani/Ginza Tower
This is not only "Environment Day", but it is lit up in green from 18:00 to 22:00 every day until June 30.
Please take a look when you leave the office or come near you.
Ginza Mitsukoshi Ginza Chandelier
The light facade "Ginza Chandelier", which was installed on the outer wall to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the opening of Ginza Mitsukoshi in 2020, also participated in this project!
According to the official press release, this light-up is less power than general incandescent lights and uses LED fibers and LED line lighting that are environmentally friendly (reducing carbon dioxide emissions).
(Normally, the gold & red light is lit up in the image of "Ginza bricks". For more information:
Matsuya Ginza
The whole building was wrapped in a soft green veil.
Wako
The Wako clock tower, which is widely known as a landmark of Ginza, is also green!
At the intersection of Ginza 4-chome, press members were gathering to photograph the light-up of Wako, Ginza Mitsukoshi, and Matsuya Ginza.
Nihonbashi area
Nisshokan
The building was designed by Yokokawa Corporation, led by architect Tamisuke Yokogawa, and was built on the site of mansion Eiichi Shibusawa.
Because I was away from busy streets, it was less affected by other lights and seemed to be dyed in beautiful green!
Nihonbashi Takashimaya Mitsui Building
Light up is only a part of the building, but it stands out even from afar.
Main Building of Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store
From June 6 to 11, this special light-up will be held from 18:00 to 22:00 every day.
Mitsui Building No. 2
Like the Nihonbashi Takashimaya Mitsui Building, the green light-up is only part of the building.
However, the gradation and Japanese-style pattern were wonderful.
Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower
A light-up that makes you feel the uniqueness of Nihonbashi that combines tradition and modern.
The building, which was crowded with many people during the day, looked somewhat harsh at night.
Yeah
Only the nine buildings that participated in this project were introduced this time, but in addition to this, in Chuo-ku, earth-friendly initiatives are being carried out on a daily basis.
(Example: Tsukiji Honganji Noryo Bon Dance Festival, Eco Volunteer Experience Report.)
Not only events by companies and organizations, but also walking around the town, you can see watering, mist equipment, and awareness-raising activities through planting.
What did you think about while watching the night view dyed in green this time?
Eco-activity can be done immediately, such as reducing food loss, using eco-bags, carrying my bottles and chopsticks, and changing the temperature of the air conditioner.
There was already an idea of recycling and reuse in the Edo period, and kimonos, paper, ash, etc. were repeatedly used in different uses and shapes.
Why don't you take this opportunity to start eco-friendly activities from familiar things?
