Bicycle is possible! Fun Tokyo Bay Liner
There are a number of sightseeing cruises to and from Nihonbashi operated by Tokyo Bay Cruises Co., Ltd., including the Nihonbashi Cruise and the Kanda River Cruise. (Click here for the schedule flyer for June.)
However, did you know that there is another "liner" that does not ride the above flyer? It is a flight called "TokyoBay_Liner" that connects the Asashio Canal Ship landing and Nihonbashi Pier. The departure and arrival point on the Nihonbashi side is from the shore of Sojuro in the waterfall square, the same as the Nihonbashi Cruise. Roughly speaking, the morning tide canal ship landing is near Triton Square. It will be around Reimeibashi Park.
It is a little different from the so-called guided sightseeing cruise, but it is a 1,000 yen one way (tax included). Moreover, you can bring your bicycle for free! (Up to 3 units). The course differs depending on the outbound route and return route, but Nihonbashi → The Asashio Canal is an attractive one that takes 40 minutes to reach the Rainbow Bridge via the Kamejima River.
The ship is EsS NANO3 (capacity: 27 people), which is also used on Nihonbashi cruises. Because it is a regular flight, it is said that it operates on a regular basis even in some bad weather.
I've already been riding three times since I knew it in April. Of course, bring a bicycle (^^).
A very friendly staff
The woman on the right side of the photo on the left is Captain Koyamauchi. On the left is Mr. Yamakawa of the crew. Fortunately or unfortunately, the number of passengers on this liner is small, so the advantage of being easy to talk with the staff is (^^)v.
The other day, I saw Kyosho Maru, which happened to be anchored at Tsukishima Wharf, so it became a topic of Kyosho Maru. At the last voyage of the 28th Kyosho Maru, who worked between Tsukishima and Ogasawara for 25 years, the Nihonbashi cruise ship all went out and followed the Kyosho Maru! It's a good story.
Also, this ship is fully equipped with a toilet. The toilet of a small boat, such as a pleasure boat, was basically a primitive mechanism of pumping up the water of the sea and flowing it into the sea, but it was completely different. Although it is a small boat, this boat has a fine private toilet, and it is said that it will never be washed away. Great!
Peaceful Kamejima River
The ship that left the Nihonbashi Pier turns right around the Kayaba Bridge and enters the Kamejima River.
The Sumida River is influenced by the waves created by tourist boats, and small boats like NANO3 are often shaken quite a bit, but the waves are calm because large boats cannot enter the Kamejima River in the first place. If you're lucky, you may encounter lily gulls, mallard, black-tailed gull, etc.
Anyway, it's a quiet atmosphere that I can't imagine as a city center, so I really like this route. By the way, the white building on the right side of the photo is the No. 2 Inoue Building, which used to be Chuo FM's studio in the past.
Sluice gates, sluice gates, sluice gates, etc.
I've listed some sluice gates that can be seen from the ship. Of course there are other things...
①The old Higashiboriru River, which has no now, is a culvert, or you can see a small sluice gate at the junction with the Nihonbashi River.
②Nihonbashi Suimon, 3 Kamejima River Suimon. The fact that these two sluice gates protect each at both ends of the Kamejima River, the Shinkawa area will be escaped from flood damage.
④Tsukiji River Sluice Gate, 5 Shiodome River Sluice Gate. It is the two entrances of the waterway that surrounds Hamarikyu. Most of the sluice gates are roller gates, in which girotin goes up and down, but 4 Tsukiji River sluice gates are swing gates, in which a door with a gag opens and closes. ⑤It seems that something like a white whale tail right next to the Shiodome River sluice gate is a drainage machine when the sluice gate is closed.
⑥Hamamae Suimon. As soon as you pass through this sluice gate, you will find Kachidoki Marina. It's a base for boating in Chuo-ku (^^)
Ships, ships, ships, etc.
There is also a pleasure to meet various ships depending on your luck.
①②Ogasawara Maru. The departure time of Takeshiba is often Friday or Saturday, but since the departure time is covered with the operating time of the Tokyo Bay Liner's morning flight, you can meet with a considerable probability on Saturday morning. If you are lucky, the Tachibanamaru of Tokai Kisen will be lined up at the same Takeshiba Pier!
③Kyosho Maru, which connects Tsukishima and Ogasawara. For more information:。
④⑤⑥Shioji Maru, Kaitaka Maru, and Kamitaka Maru belong to Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology. Click here for more details.。
⑦"Miyakodori" of the Tokyo Fire Department ("Sumida" behind). The Tokyo Fire Department has 10 fire boats, of which six are located at the harbor fire station in Harumi. You may have seen it on the water pageant of Tokyo Minato matsuri the other day.
⑧Shoyo Maru. This ship belongs to the Fisheries Agency and is cracking down on illegal operations.
⑨Oshima Maru. This is a voyage training boat used by Tokyo Metropolitan Oshima Marine International High School on Izu-Oshima Island. I happened to be calling at Tsukishima. It's about 500 tons of ships, but they sometimes go to Okinawa and Hawaii.
Measures against sunlight are sufficient
Ess NANO3 is a river cruise ship that can pass under a restricted river width and many low bridges, so there is no roof to lower the height of the ship.
Therefore, they give a straw hat to the shipper as a measure against the sun. In addition, we lend blankets to people in the front seats as a countermeasure against splashing. However, more than 30 minutes of a 40-minute cruise on the outbound route continue to be exposed to direct sunlight, and the reflection from the water surface is not halfway.
Especially in the coming season, we recommend that you take sufficient measures such as sports sunglasses and sunscreen.
