Former residence of the "New 10,000 yen Bill Face"-Nisshokan Building

Five years later, the design of the new bill was announced. Eiichi Shibusawa, the face of the new 10,000 yen bill, is a big businessman involved in the establishment of more than 500 companies, but did you know that the former residence is located in Chuo-ku? On the back of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the Nisshokan Building is located along the Nihonbashi River. The former Shibusawa House was built in 1888 by Kingo Tatsuno, famous for its design at Tokyo Station and the head office of the Bank of Japan. The Nisshokan Building, which was destroyed by fire in the Great Kanto Earthquake and was built in 1928 (1928), was designed as an affiliated facility of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, Tamisuke Yokogawa, Dentsu Ginza Building, and the first Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi are famous. It is a stylish retro building with a semicircular arch design on the wall.

The birthplace of the bank-Mizuho Bank Kabuto-cho Branch

The birthplace of the bank: the former residence of the Mizuho Bank Kabuto-cho Branch “The Face of the New 10,000-yen Bill”-Nisshokan Building

At the location of the Mizuho Bank Kabuto-cho branch, there is a plate of "Bank Birthplace". In 1872, the government issued the "National Bank Ordinance" and numbered them in the order of establishment. This is the first prosperous "Daiichi National Bank". It is also known that Eiichi Shibusawa was involved in the establishment and served as president. It is called "national", but it is a private bank in the sense that it was established in accordance with national laws. Although 153 banks were established in seven years, only 7 banks, including Daishi Bank and Juroku Bank, remain the same as number banks, all of which have branches in Chuo-ku. I researched it a few years ago and made a blog post. Note that "Seven Bank" is not the number bank.

Eiichi Shibusawa was involved in the establishment of more than 500 companies, but this is probably the only place that has the name "Shibusawa".

Shibusawa Warehouse is located in Shibusawa City Place, just after going up Kayabacho Station.
