A large collection of working vehicles!
[Toyomi Fisheries Wharf/Tsukishima Wharf] (for kids)

Hey, Doctor. Today, you walked around Toyomicho.

The weather is nice today, and it's perfect for a walk.

There are many warehouses around here.

That's right. There are many refrigerators and freezers for seafood (Suisanbutsu) around here.

Why do you put marine products in refrigerators and freezers?

If you carry marine products directly to markets, shops and supermarkets, you may not be able to get in. If you do so, you'll have good seafood.

Hey, you're making inventory adjustments in the refrigerator and freezer.

Nippon Maru/Harumi Wharf

Doctor, what is the name of this ship?

This is Nippon Maru. It's anchored at Harumi Futo. Harumi Wharf is now off-limits, but you can see it from Toyomi Suisanfuto.

Is this a sailing ship?

I know it well. You can see four masts. Put a white sail here and run on the sea in the wind. Of course, there is also a diesel engine, so it's safe.

Ogasawara Maru / Takeshiba Passenger Ship Terminal (Minato-ku)

Doctor, this ship on the other side is Ogasawara Maru, right?

That's right. It is a boat that goes back and forth between Takeshiba and Ogasawara (Ogasawara) Chichijima every six days. It takes 24 hours to Chichijima.

My dream is to swim with dolphins in Ogasawara when I get older.

I'm looking forward to it.

Koun Maru, Koei Maru / Tsukishima Wharf

Doctor, where is this?

This is Tsukishima Wharf. It was a small wharf like a cove that was created during the reclaiming of Toyomi-cho in 1963 (Showa 38).

Shioji Maru / Asashio Canal

Doctor, what is this ship?

This ship is Shiojimaru of Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology anchored on the Asashio Canal. It is also used for experimental voyage of Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology. The purpose is to live together with the teacher on a boat and deepen your understanding of what you have learned in your usual classes on a large stage called the Ouna Rose.

Hey, it's nice to be able to sail in class. I wonder if I should aim to be a man of the sea.

Hello, this is the new correspondent "Take-chan". This time, I wrote it for kids too. The COVID-19 pandemic continues, but the Toyomi Fisheries Wharf and Tsukishima Wharf are close to each other and you can watch ships slowly. It's a great walking course for kids who like ships. However, be careful as there are so many trucks loaded with marine products. On Sunday, there is little traffic, so it may be good for a walk.
