A little worried about the edge of Ginza (8-chome)

Metabolism proposed in the 1960s and 1970s that organically grow in line with social changes and population growth. There are two buildings on the edge of Ginza (8-chome) designed with the aim of metabolism during Japan's high growth period.

Finally, goodbye, the central bank capsule tower building

Finally, goodbye, central bank capsule tower building a little worrisome building @ Ginza edge (8-chome)

Location 8-16-10, Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo

Designed by Kisho Kurokawa. It is a unique capsule-type apartment house that has been featured several times on the Chuo-ku Tourism Association correspondent blog. Assuming that each one-room capsule is replaced, it clearly expresses the design concept of metabolism (however, it seems that capsule replacement has never been carried out.…)。 Demolition work began in April 2022, 50 years after completion in 1972.

I was worried about what the current situation is, so I stopped by when I went to Ginza the other day (late June 2022). We are setting up an enclosure in the building, and we are finally looking forward to it.

Location 8-3-7, Ginza, Chuo-ku, Tokyo

Designed by Kenzo Tange. It is a design that expresses the metabolism that grows organically, with a box-shaped office overhanging from the cylindrical core. It was completed in 1967, five years after the completion of the Central Bank Capsule Tower Building, but there seems to be no concrete rebuilding at this time. Located near JR Shimbashi Station, it is located at the corner of Tsuchihashi Intersection where Sotobori-dori St., Ginza Corridor Street, and Gomon Street intersect.

By the way, the Dentsu headquarters building (2nd generation) at Tsukiji 1-chome, which began demolition work in April 2021, is also a metabolism building designed by Kenzo Tange. I extended my foot from the Tsuchihashi intersection to Tsukiji, but it was covered with enclosures and could not see it. It seems that the tower has already been removed. Personally, I feel a little lonely.
