Chuo-ku Gourmet Information "HOPPERS" by SPICE Cafe
Kabuto-cho "KABUTO ONE", which opened last summer, and on the first floor there is a Sri Lankan restaurant "HOPPERS", which opened in December. I had lunch the other day, so I would like to introduce the shop.
This is the second store of the famous spice restaurant "SPICE cafe" in Oshiage, Sumida-ku. "SPICE cafe" is ranked No. 1 in the curry category of eating logs, and following 2015, this year's second Michelin Guide Bib Gourman, and uses spices based on curry from Sri Lanka, India. You can enjoy various dishes.
The owner chef is a restaurant with a calm atmosphere that has been renovated from old folk house in a quiet residential area just a short walk from Oshiage Station.

By the way, the second store "HOPPERS" is a Sri Lankan restaurant. Sri Lankan cuisine is not very familiar in Tokyo, but it is a spicy curry dish that uses a lot of spices and is characterized by its refreshing and easy to eat. Rice and curry, a representative dish, put curry and side dishes in a large plate and mix it with rice to eat. Curry and spices of various flavors are combined to create a very deep taste.
Sri Lanka is an island country, so there is a lot of seafood curry, dried fish soup is also used, and it has a unique richness and umami. There are also a wide variety of vegetables, beans, chicken, beef, etc.
"HOPPER" is the name of Sri Lanka's representative dish and is a bowl-shaped pancake made from fermented rice flour and coconut.
The lunch menu of "HOPPERS" is Sri Lankan rice and curry, and one of several kinds of curry. This time I ordered "prawn" curry.
The rice came out with a large plate with lots of spices on the side dishes. Nine kinds of side dishes, all side dishes were exquisitely seasoned and mixed with rice. It doesn't feel spicy, and you can eat rice only with this side dish. What surprised me a little was that there was a large sardine dried.
The shrimp curry came out in a caturi (a small plate for curry). I replaced rice (free to replace) and mixed shrimp curry this time. Shrimp curry also had a wonderful balance between soup stock and spices, and rice went on.
I'm very satisfied. It's a good lunch.
I'd like to try dinner next time. Dinner is limited to the course of modern Sri Lankan cuisine. It seems to be rumored that I can't make a reservation easily.
