A large collection of working vehicles! [Old Harumi Railway Bridge] (for kids)
Hey, Doctor. Where is this?
This is the old Harumi Railway Bridge next to Harumi Bridge. I'm doing seismic reinforcement now to be reborn as promenade.
Hey, you're working with a ship floating on the river.
That's right. I call such a ship with cranes.
The crawler crane that I saw during the construction of the Tsukiji Toranomon Tunnel is installed on the ship.
Doctor, the reinforcement work on Harumi side is over.
That's right. The project is to reinforce the Harumi side, then reinforce the Toyosu side, and finally build a promenade on the bridge. Construction is scheduled to be completed in 2025 (Reiwa 7).
Well, you're working on the Toyosu side now. I want to walk across this bridge soon!
Doctor, why is there a railway bridge here?
That's a good question. This bridge was built in 1957 when the Harumi Line of the Rinko Railway Tokyo dedicated line (Rinkottsudo Tokyo and Senyosen) was opened.
Oh, how long have you been using it?
It was used until the first year of Heisei (1989) more than 30 years ago.
Hmm, where did the tracks extend from?
It stretched from Echinakajima Freight Station, which is still used, to Toyosu in 1953, and then to Harumi in 1957. The area near Harumi BRT terminal in Tokyo BRT is the site of the track.
Hey, there was a track at that bus terminal. I can't imagine it too much.
There are some old tracks around Shiohama, Koto-ku.
Oh, that's right. I'd like to go next time.
Hello, this is the new correspondent "Take-chan". Thank you very much for your continued support. This time, I wrote it for kids too. The former Harumi Railway Bridge has been featured several times by correspondents, but this time I wrote it from the perspective of the "Working Vehicles" series. "Old Harumi Railway Bridge" allows you to slowly appreciate construction machinery with closeness. It's a perfect walking course for kids who like doboku, ship-like kids, and railway-like kids.
By the way, the photo above is the "Fukagawa Line track trace" that remains at 2-chome Shiohama, Koto-ku. Only this photo has a different sense of season, but I used a photo taken in late March 2022.
★Access to the former Harumi Railway Bridge
- About a 10-minute walk from Toyosu Station on the Yurakucho Line
- About a 15-minute walk from Tsukishima Station on the Yurakucho Line via the Asashio Canal.
★Access to the trace of the Fukagawa Line track (2-1-5 Shiohama, Koto-ku)
- If you don't get lost from Toyosu Station on the Yurakucho Line, it's about 12 minutes on foot.
※It is close to Kamobashi, which connects Edagawa and Shiohama.
