It's a 90-minute cruise that flows through the middle of Tokyo.
The highlights include the Ochanomizu Valley, Edo Castle Ishigaki, JR Ochanomizu Station, Hijiribashi, Kiyosubashi, Eitai Bridge, etc.
Many historical structures such as the ruins of a water supply bridge and the stone walls of Edo Castle can be seen in the waterways that have supported people's lives since the Edo period.
Departing from Nihonbashi Edobashi Armor Bridge
I left the Nihonbashi boarding area. Nihonbashi is an important cultural property of the country.
I saw Edobashi right away. You can see the Nihonbashi Diamond Building in front of you.
The former Mitsubishi Warehouse Edobashi Warehouse Building, completed in 1930 (Showa 5), was selected as the Tokyo Metropolitan Government's Historic buildings for its appearance reminiscent of a hull.
Next, I could see the armor bridge.
There are Nihonbashikoamicho, Nihonbashikabutocho, Nihonbashikayabacho, and Nihonbashikayabacho, and the Tokyo Stock Exchange is also nearby.
Toyomi Bridge
This bridge spans the mouth where the Nihonbashi River pours into the Sumida River and is near the Eitai Bridge.
This bridge is an unusual structure and design bridge with an appearance that looks like a ladder (ladder) is folded down.
It seems that it was built in consideration of the scenery with Eitai Bridge.
Eitai Bridge
It is said that it was made with the 50-year-old celebration of the 5th Shogun Tsunayoshi.
In Culture 4 (1807), the bridge girder fell due to congestion toward the festival of Fukagawa Hachiman, and more than 1,500 people drowned.
It is an important cultural property of the country.
Kiyosu Bridge
A beautiful Yumi and feminine suspension bridge as a bridge that pairs with Eitai Bridge, which has a masculine impression. The lit up at night is also a feminine and beautiful bridge.
It is modeled on a suspension bridge in Cologne, Germany. The name of Kiyosubashi is derived from the connection between Kiyosumi-cho, Fukagawa-ku and Nihonbashi Nakasu-cho.
It is an important cultural property of the country.
Yanagibashi The site of Manseibashi station building
In the middle of the Edo period, Hashimoto Yanagihara Doho-cho in Japan and Asakusa Shimoheiemon-cho on the opposite bank were coming and going by ferry, but it was inconvenient to apply for a bridge in 1697 (Genroku 10) and completed in 1698 the following year.
It became a steel bridge in 1887 (Meiji 20). It was burned down by the Great Kanto Earthquake and completed the current bridge in 1929 (Showa 4). It is said that the design of the Eitai Bridge was adopted.
The area around Yanagibashi has been famous as a base for boating since the Edo period, and there are still many houseboats and lodgings. Registered as Tangible Cultural Property in Chuo-ku in 1999.
The Kobu Railway was opened in Meiji 22, and there was Manseibashi Station between Kanda and Ochanomizu on the Chuo Line.
The red brick Manseibashi viaduct, completed in 1912 (Meiji 45), was reborn based on history and memories.
An unprecedented commercial facility with shops and cafes has been created.
Hijiribashi
Hijiribashi has an impressive large arch shape
It is a bridge that connects the two cathedrals of Yushima Seido Temple and Nikolai Cathedral. This area is one of the most beautiful valleys in Tokyo. The Kanda River is a canal built by the excavation of the Hongo Plateau during the Edo period.
Before this canal was built, the left bank and the right bank were the Hongo Plateau (Kadoyama) connected to the land.
After the canal was completed, many Tokugawa family retainer from Suruga lived and came to be called Surugadai.
Ochanomizu cut-through Ochanomizu diversion channel
It was said to be a particularly important point in the defense of Edo Castle in the outer moat.
The cut-through part of the Kanda River (between Suido Bridge and Shohei Bridge) was not allowed to build bridges throughout the Edo period.
From the east side of JR Suidobashi Station to Shohei Bridge downstream (Shohei Hashimoto-ryu-Water Bridge downstream, 1.3 km), along the Kanda River, the Kanda River and Ochanomizu diversion channel flows underground on the Bunkyo-ku side (north side). It was built to prevent flood damage.
Edo Castle Ishigaki Tokiwa Bridge
I can see the stone wall of Edo Castle. It's the outer moat of Edo Castle. You can see a mason carved stamp on the surface, but it was carved to distinguish it from the stones of other houses at the time of the world contract.
Tokiwa Bridge is a bridge over the Nihonbashi River between Otemachi, Chiyoda-ku and Nihonbashi-Honishi-cho, Chuo-ku.
There are two Tokiwa Bridges, a two-story Western-style stone bridge (the oldest existing stone bridge in Tokyo) that leads to Edo Castle Tokiwa Hashikado, and a road bridge built in the reconstruction plan after the Great Kanto Earthquake. In order to distinguish it, the character of "Iwan" in Ishibashi is "stone" in "Han". I could see the statue of Eiichi Shibusawa nearby.
