Great Keyaki of Mitsui Tower, Nihonbashi Muromachi

From the outdoor plaza of Cored Muromachi Terrace, the front entrance to the Bank of Japan, a little cool Japanese shop curtain is blowing in the wind. Goldfish is also drawn on this noren, and it is a refreshing agent.

About the Great Keyaki

About Dai Keyaki Dai Keyaki at Nihonbashi Muromachi Mitsui Tower

This is an explanation of the large keyaki of Nihonbashi Muromachi Mitsui Tower.

This large zelkova with a stand (estimated age of 200 years, height of 15m, leafing 10m) grew near Nasushiobara along the Oshu Kaido (National Route 4) starting from Nihonbashi. About 40 years ago, it was transplanted into a field at Someya Botanical Garden in Saitama City along the Nikko Kaido, and was planted in 2019 as a symbol tree of Nihonbashi Muromachi Mitsui Tower, a new landmark in Nihonbashi.

Since the Edo period, zelkova with a stand is said to have a very high rare value. A pedestal refers to a condition in which a tree has fallen for some reason, and then many young shoots have grown from the stump. The appearance of the trees regenerating vigorously and the appearance of enduring the wind and snow of 200 years, as well as falling trees, empowers viewers.

It was a refreshing moment when I felt that trees in the city were indispensable for SDG's.
