This large zelkova with a table (estimated age 200 years, height 15m, leaf 10m) grew near Nasushiobara along the Oshu Highway (National Route 4) starting from Nihonbashi. About 40 years ago, it was transplanted into the field of Someya Botanical Garden in Saitama City along the Nikko Kaido, and in 2019 it was planted as a symbol tree of Nihonbashimuromachi Mitsui Tower, a new landmark in Nihonbashi.
Since the Edo period, zelkova with a table is said to have a very rare value. A trapezement refers to a state in which a tree has fallen for some reason, and after that many young buds have grown from the stump. The lively trees are regenerated, and the appearance that has endured 200 years of snow and snow will give strength to the viewer.
