The birthplace of the Furukawa Group is located in Nihonbashi Muromachi.

When I was walking in Nihonbashi Muromachi, I encountered a very fine bronze statue.
The place is roughly opposite, across the Ukiyokoji of Fukutoku Shrine.
Speaking of the northeast corner of the building of Cored Muromachi 2, is it exactly transmitted?

The birthplace of the Furukawa Group is located in Nihonbashi Muromachi.

The bronze bust is modeled by Ichibee Furukawa.
He is the founder of the Furukawa Group, whose core companies include Furukawa Electric, Furukawa Electric, Fuji Electric, and Fujitsu.
Born in Kyoto, Ichibei started from a tofu peddler and started running the Kusakura Copper Mine in Niigata Prefecture in 1875.
Later, he established a joint-stock company with Eiichi Shibusawa and et al., embarked on the management of the Ashio Copper Mine, and eventually became known as the mine king. The place where the statue is located was Ichibee Furukawa's residence and Furukawa head office in 1877, and it was the birthplace of the Furukawa Group, where it was the base of its business for the next 20 years.

Oh, that's right?
I didn't know that this was the beginning of the Furukawa Group.
I think I've studied the history of Chuo-ku as such, but there are still things I don't know.

The birthplace of the Furukawa Group is located in Nihonbashi Muromachi.

By the way, the official name of the building containing Colled Muromachi 2 is "Muromachi Furukawa Mitsui Building".
On the east side of the building, on the side of the Edo Sakura-dori St., there is also a magnificent entrance that leads to the office floor.
I didn't even notice that there was an office entrance until recently because the flow line is well separated from the commercial area, but if you look closely, there are quite a few salaried workers who came in suits and shirts.
Along with Mitsui Fudosan, Ninben, Nikko and Hosoi Kagaku Kogyo, Furukawa Machinery Metals, one of the Furukawa Zaibatsu's headwater companies, is also named.

The birthplace of the Furukawa Group is located in Nihonbashi Muromachi.

The business people who lived in the same era as Ichibei cut off the chomage early in the Meiji era and dressed in a Western style, but Ichibei did not easily cut off the chomage.
It was in 1871 that a haircut and removal order (so-called haircut order) was issued, but it is said that until 1900, a little haircut was tied to his head.

The fact that the bust is a chopped figure probably expresses Ichibei's commitment.
