Hello, this is the correspondent "Take-chan".

The fossils found in the city seem to be called "town fossils." I've just learned about it recently. The "town fossils" that have already been introduced several times in the past on the correspondent blog, but this time we will introduce the "town fossils" at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store from the perspective of "Take-chan".

The main building of the current Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store was completed in 1935. At that time, it was the second largest building after "National Diet Building" and "Maru Building". This building is made of Japanese and foreign stone.

When I contacted the person in charge of the PR at Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store, "The stone with fossils is marble." According to our historical materials, the production area mainly uses marble from Italy. "

You can get the "Fossil Exploration Map"

I entered from the lion exit on the first floor, went to the information desk, and asked, "Do you have a fossil map?"

"Yes, please. It is said that there are more than 10,000 fossils in the museum, "handwritten fossil exploration MAP" was handed over. As expected, I was impressed with Mr. Mitsukoshi of hospitality. The exploration MAP depicts nine fossils, which makes you feel like a little treasure hunt and departs for fossil exploration!

This photo shows "ammonite" next to the stairs of the statue of a heavenly woman in the central hall.

There is an information board on the right of "ammonite", which explains "ammonite" in an easy-to-understand manner.

It prospered greatly in the middle of the Paleozoic period (600 million to 200 million years ago) and extinct in the middle generation (200 million to 65 million years ago) and the middle generation Jura Ki and Cretaceous. It is also called ammon shell or chrysanthemum stone.

As it grows, it is known that the rooms are increased outside, ranging from several centimeters in diameter to 2.5 meters in large.

It is a very important fossil for determining the age of the stratum because the speed of evolution is fast and widely distributed, and for contrasting (confirming simultaneousness).

Big ammonite! (Let's go see it because it's hard to convey with photos!)

Using the "Fossil Exploration Map" as a clue, I tried to go down the heavenly statue stairs in the central hall underground. In the middle of the stairs, I found a large ammonite that was published in the Asahi Shimbun in July 2005! I have a lot of tension.

This is the largest ammonite among the fossils depicted in the "Fossil Exploration Map".

Depa underground ammonite! (I want to make this word buzz!)

Speaking of the first basement floor of the Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store, "The Depa Underground" offers everything related to food such as Japanese and Western confectionery, side dishes, bread, tsukudani, seaweed, rice, coffee, tea, and sake. Right next to the cake department under such a depa, you can't be sure ammonite! I feel more excited about this gap.

I was shooting hard on the floor of the stairs, and I released the shutter while wondering how the clerk at the cake shop could see it.

This "Depa underground ammonite" is the ninth "town fossil" introduced in the "Fossil Exploration Map".

Speaking of which, I remembered that at the information center on the first floor, "It is said that there are more than 10,000 fossils in the hotel." Well, more than 99.9% of the fossils of Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi were still sleeping elsewhere.

"This is still worth looking for..."Take-chan" stared at the sunset in Nihonbashi and returned home while thinking that it will be a life work.
