Thank you for the Kyobashi Library

Hello, this is Minato kid.

The Chuo Ward Kyobashi Library will be temporarily closed from September 1 (Thursday) to December 3 (Saturday), 2022, and will be reborn as "Book Forest Chuou" from December 4 (Sunday). .

Chuo Ward Kyobashi Library has left many memories in each person's heart.

Today, I would like to look back on the history of the Kyobashi Library and my memories.

Thank you for the Kyobashi Library

The Chuo Ward Kyobashi Library was established in August 1910 as the Tokyo City Library. At first, it was the beginning of the Tokyo City Kyobashi Simple Library, which was set up in Kyobashi Hirone Elementary School.

It was relocated to the current location, 1-1-1 Tsukiji, Chuo-ku in 1929, and it is characterized by the fact that it has a large collection of valuable books published before 1945 due to the escape from the war. .

Another feature is the regional reference room.

In addition to Chuo-ku, there are plenty of materials related to Tokyo's 23 wards and the Tama area, rivers and buildings in Tokyo, and books related to Edo. There are many interesting materials, such as publications of Chuo-ku, cultural property survey reports, etc., as well as town magazines issued in the area, town council magazines, and books that record the memories of the local people and the state of the town. .

I liked the stairs going to the regional archives.

The current building was designed by Takeo Sato in 1969. Behind the letters "Figure" of "Kyobashi Library", some day sparrows created nests ...

The flowers of Sankun Garden in front of the library will make visitors smile.

There is a handmade exhibition corner on the bulletin board near the entrance, and each time, old photos and ukiyo-e are displayed for each theme. When the Chuo-ku sightseeing test was near, I was looking down and looking at it!

Paintings displayed in the reading room, handmade mini corners of pillars near the study desk, pamphlets of ward announcements, short bookshelves with handouts on their heads, and handmade boxes in the shape of a house .

The letters of various paper on the stairs leading to the regional reference room. On the cut-out map on the wall, the river is carefully painted with a blue pen.…。

The Kyobashi Library shows a warm expression in a sudden place.

In a message from the staff, there was a flavor that when working on a closed underground, the sound of the subway can be heard. I felt like a closed view that I had never seen or went to spread in front of my eyes. In me, I have a longing.

There was a tour tour at the whole museum in Chuo-ku. Unfortunately, I couldn't participate, but I would like to keep my longing as it is.

Thank you for the Kyobashi Library

Currently, the Kyobashi Library displays valuable photographs from its opening to today.

In 1967, I was attracted to the picture of a record concert. In the center of the desk in the reading room, a spherical stereo is placed and several people sit around it. Everyone seems to be listening to the music, with their eyes closed and turned down.

That's good. Everybody listens to a sound. There were much more sounds that could not be heard unless they went there. How to use the time to stop and stay there to listen to sound.

Thank you for the Kyobashi Library

We give users a special bookmark made by Kyobashi Library and a commemorative booklet.

I am decorating the cute bookmark of owl's painting on my desk.

Thank you, Kyobashi Library…。

♪In writing this blog, we received permission to shoot the inside of the Kyobashi Library in Chuo Ward and post it on the blog. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all the staff who helped me.
