Since its launch in 1979, "Monthly Nihonbashi" has published readings such as topics, information, and essays rooted in the community.
We change the theme every month and create a special feature. This month it's the rough room.
The only sumo room in Chuo-ku, Arashio room
Near Meijiza, there is the only sumo room in Chuo-ku, Arashio Room. It has been 20 years since it was founded in Hamacho. The number of people who visit through the large windows of the training hall is increasing.
I would like to support the wrestlers who will be responsible for tomorrow's corner world, who will study every day.
The character language of this month's issue was Wakatakakageseki.
He is 180 cm tall and weighs 131 kg, which is not large among sumo wrestlers, but he made a great leap by making full use of his tightening his opponent's arm with his elbow. In March of this year, Sekiwaki and Wakatakakeiseki finally won the first Makuuchi victory in the Arashio room. By the way, a new number for autumn place (the first day of September 11, Kokugikan) has been announced. Toyoboryu was promoted to Shinsekiwaki. Ryu Mito and Kai Hirato have entered the new stage. Itsuno Castle, who won the Nagoya place for the first time in five places, has returned to the third role. It seems that many Sekitoris in other rooms are coming to the Arashio room to practice in front of this place.
I hope that Arashio Room wrestlers will play an active role in the autumn place.
