[Excursion Series No. 51] The tree-lined road of Yanagi Nisei in Ginza in Iiyama City

Hello. I'm Hanes, an active correspondent.
I had the opportunity to visit Nagano Prefecture a while ago.
At that time, I went to see willows in Ginza in Iiyama City, which was introduced in the 2018 article "Encounter with Willows of Ginza Nisei" by correspondent and senior marathon senior Nyanboku.

The stone monument of "The Origin of Ginza Niseiyanagi in Atago-cho" was engraved with episodes of Edmond Morrel and Mrs. Kino, who contributed to the construction of the railway between Shimbashi and Yokohama.
Professor Kisuke Watanabe of Tokyo Institute of Technology talked to Mr. Kazuji Shiiba (Chairman of Ginza Gomon-dori) and Yasuo Katsumata (Chairman of Ginza Kinharu-dori), who have raised the second generation of "Ginza's willow", and talked about Morrel's contribution to Japan and the sad story of the couple.
It is said that Mrs. Watanabe taught in detail what Mrs. Kino was Mr. Juichiro Furuta of Iiyama City (Chairman of Atago Teramachi Tsukuroukai), who was once involved in compiling the 100-year history of the Japanese National Railways. .
