[The 50th Excursion Series] Follow the footsteps of Sakamoto Ryoma

Hello. I'm Hanes, an active correspondent.
When I visited Kochi City, Kochi Prefecture a while ago, I visited Sakamoto Ryoma-related spots such as the birthplace of Sakamoto Ryoma and the memorial hall where Ryoma was born, followed the footsteps of Ryoma during the Kochi period.

"Sakamoto Ryoma's Birthplace" in the Kochi Castle Historical Road Guide, which I saw in the city, "I went to Edo in the spring of 19 years old and trained at Kitashinichi-ryu and Sadakichi Chiba Dojo" and "Sakamoto Ryoma in Edo, I learned Western artillery from Tosai Tokuhiro in Shozan Sakuma and Tosa."

The information board only says "Edo", but all related historical sites are located in Chuo-ku.

The information board for "Sadakichi Chiba Dojo Ruins", known as "Kochiba Dojo", is located 2-8 Yaesu, Chuo-ku.
According to this information board, Sakamoto Ryoma once devoted himself to swordsmanship training at this dojo, and in 1858 (Ansei 5), Sadakichi gave a catalog of "Kitashinichi-ryu long sword soldier method".
This is a proof that you have learned the skills of a long sword, like a graduation certificate in modern times.
At the end of the diploma, the name of the young teacher, Jutaro, the son of Sadakichi and Sadakichi, who can also confirm the name on the information board in the ward, and Saname, the sister of Jutaro and the lover of Ryoma, is also written. I am.

This diploma was appraised at the Kyoto National Museum and turned out to be the real thing in 2015. It is now on display at the Ryoma History Museum in Actland.
For more information, Actland's "The Secret of Actland [4th] Hokushinichi-ryu diploma" and Kyoto National Museum's "Museum Diary No.193: Was Ryoma really strong? Please refer to "Swordsmanship Certificate".

Another spot is the Shozan Sakuma Juku Site, which remains at 6-15 Ginza, Chuo-ku.
Shozan Sakuma was a thinker of the late Edo period, Kunimatsu Shinano clansman.
In Kaei 6 (1853), Ryoma entered Shozan when he first came to Edo to practice swordsmanship.

The students of artillery training are distinguished by Kaishu Katsu, Yoshida Shoin and Sanai Hashimoto.
However, in Kaei 7 (1854), Yoshida Shoin failed to smuggle the United States, and Shozan was ordered to stay by the national government, and the cram school was closed.

As for Shoin and Shozan, I would like to see "[40th Excursion Series] Planning and After Yoshida Shoin Smuggling" and "[21st Excursion Series] Follow the Footprints of Shozan Sakuma" in Chuo-ku, I can remember the life of Sakamoto Ryoma and the person who influenced his life and thought.
Now you only leave the information board, but when you visit Chuo-ku, why don't you stop in front of the information board and think about Edo about 170 years ago?
