From the rooftop deck of the houseboat, Sumida River

Nobuyuki Tsuchiya, a narrator of the Citizens' Disaster Prevention Community Development School, participated in a tour to guide the Sumida River and the Onagi River. .

The official name of the tour was "Sumida River Storm Surge Countermeasure Facility Tour", but there was no difficult story, and it was an opportunity to feel a pleasant breeze on the roof deck of the houseboat because of the fine autumn weather. The boarding time is a 3-hour course!

Main steps

Kitashinagawa → Tokyo Bay → Sumida River → Kiyosu Bridge → Onagi River → Turn on the old Nakagawa → Onagi River → Further north of the Sumida River → Turn around at the Mizukami Bridge → Down the Sumida River → Tokyo Bay → Kitashinagawa

Onagi River has time to wait for the water level adjustment in the lock room to adjust the water level difference at the Ogibashi lock gate, and you can feel the boat up and down while watching the walls of the lock room.

The water of the Sumida River was calm and without waves, and the rooftop deck with a sense of openness was a cozy place with plenty of time to walk around.

When the houseboat approaches the Sumida River, they will talk about the red sluice gates that remain on the site of Tsukiji Market, the Super dike and Sumida River Terrace in St. Luke Garden, and the Reigishijima Observation Station. When returning to the inn, please tell us about the characteristics of the tower bridge over the Sumida River, such as Ryogoku Bridge, Shinohashi and Kachidokibashi, as well as the height of Tsukuda.

What do you think at the waterside?

What do you think about the waterside? The Sumida River from the rooftop deck of the houseboat

Mr. Hayase, President of the Society for the Creation of Water Capital Tokyo, also participated in tours to guide the Nihonbashi River, Kanda River, Sumida River, and Kamejima River, so last month I was thinking about waterside sightseeing every weekend.

Both of you are good at talking, so if you want to explore the charm of Chuo-ku from the waterside, try using a guided boat.

From Tsuchiya of citizen disaster prevention town development school, "I don't need to take a pen. I want you to enjoy the scenery from the boat." Information on each organization can be obtained from the link in this article.

The day before boarding the houseboat, I just got acquainted with the water surface while watching small fish and jellyfish coming and going at the Asashio Waterside Festa venue as a child.

The regeneration of rivers flowing into cities will be a big story when it is an opportunity to consider disaster prevention in town development, but it will be an opportunity to reconsider what you want to enjoy yourself.

It would be nice if we could add a waterside that can be enjoyed in Chuo-ku to the sightseeing course while paying more attention to the future of the water city.
