Kanni-dori St. Tsukiji Toranomon Tunnel is fully open!
After the relocation of Tsukiji Market to Toyosu, underground tunnel construction of Ring Route 2 was ongoing on the southwest side of the site. This "Tsukiji Toranomon Tunnel" is finally open on December 18th.

The photo above is where Kanni-dori St. crosses Tsukiji Ohashi and enters the underground tunnel. You can see the entrance of the tunnel in the center of the photo. On top of the tunnel, you can see the chimney of the newly completed exhaust tower. Crane cars and construction vehicles were still performing the last work on the street for opening.
Below is a photo from the rooftop of Tsukiji Fish Bank (Umiyuki Bridge Building) at Tsukiji Outer Market. Tsukiji Market, which became vacant. Beyond that, you can see Tsukiji Ohashi on the left, the chimney of the exhaust tower on the right, and a crane truck.
When will it be opened? I've always thought about it.

Kanni-dori St. Route 2

Loop Route 2 is an arterial road that connects Ariake to Toyosu, Harumi, Tsukiji, Shimbashi, Toranomon, and then to Sotobori-dori St. in Akasaka. Construction is underway with the goal of the Tokyo Olympics, and the route between Shimbashi and Toranomon opened in June 2014. It is currently called "Shintora Street".
From Toranomon Hills on "Shintora Street", the main line becomes an underground tunnel. The Tsukiji Toranomon Tunnel was opened between Shimbashi and Toranomon in 2014, but the construction of the remaining Tsukiji and Shimbashi was delayed due to postponement of the relocation of the Tsukiji market.

With the opening of the Tsukiji Toranomon Tunnel, it will become even more convenient to Kachidoki, Harumi, Toyosu, and Ariake.
A walking event and opening commemorative ceremony will be held on December 10, and we look forward to the opening of the entire line on December 18.
