Experience making Edo folding fan-Ibasen
Founded in 1590 in 1590, President Makoto Yoshida of Ibasen, a long-established fan and fan fan maker with a history of 400 years, created his own fan by drawing a picture on the fan as a lecturer.
The father of Kanzaemon Ibaya, the first generation of Ibasen, was a craftsman of the Matsudaira family's flood control and civil engineering work in Okazaki, Mikawa country. He moved to Edo with Ieyasu Tokugawa's entry to Edo and was involved in pioneering work. At that time, the land that was pioneered was given, so he settled in Edo and started trading. At first, they put bamboo and Japanese paper to the Shogun's family. After that, I started to use these materials to manufacture fans.
It prospered as a publisher of ukiyo-e because it had many woodblock printers and ukiyo-e artists to print patterns on a fan.
Ukiyo-e artists, such as the first Toyokuni Utagawa, Kuniyoshi Utagawa, and Hiroshige Utagawa, were such a look.
The publishers were publishers, and Ukiyo-e was entertainment for the common people like posters and magazines. There was a producer at the publisher, and I decided on the subject that Muromachi Komachi and next Kabuki actor. It seems that the kimono pattern was drawn by an exclusive designer while checking the fashion.
They also sold fans. The fan is also a summer product of a fan. In winter, they carried mandarin oranges by boat and sold them. The neighborhood where about 30 fan shops lined the eaves was called the Dansen Riverside. It seems that every shop sold oranges in winter.
In the Meiji era, when the calendar changed to the lunar calendar or the solar calendar, we manufactured and sold calendars. It seems that the foundation of the current business was completed around this time.
Edo folding fan is characterized by its large structure. There are many playful patterns, such as the dragonfly pattern, which is called the winner, and the six gourd patterns wishing for sound health.
(Introduction to Nihonbashi Goyomi) (Refer to Nihonbashi Fukutoku Juku Yoshida, Nihonbashi)
Painting materials Water was prepared in white fans, paint plates, two brushes, painting Aya, and paper cups.
On a flat surface, it is easy to draw pictures, but I tried painting on the completed folding fan.
The first difficult thing was to make color with Aya face. I fought hard because I couldn't make the color I wanted.
I colored it with the image of spring as a design rather than thinking about the pattern.
One hour passed quickly, and the finish in pale colors was satisfying for the first experience.

History of Odawara Lantern (Original)
According to `` New Edition Sagami topographical record '' published in the Edo period, it was written that about 300 years ago, a person named Odawara lantern craftsman Jinzaemon devised it and sold it with the characteristic of Odawara lantern Santoku. Was.
The three virtues are amulet because they used spirit trees in the mountains of Daiyuzan Saijoji Temple. 2.If you fold it, you will get into your pocket, so it is convenient to carry around. 3.The conventional round chin is turned into a corner chin to improve the glue.
When the lantern is folded, the upper and lower lids (mageshi) are completely covered (like a lunch box), and the part of the lantern itself is protected. It made it easier to take it out and use.
In addition, each chin was used to make the glue better and durable, and the lantern lid was used as a talisman because the sacred tree of Saijoji Temple in Minamiashigara City was used.
When this lantern was sold to travelers traveling on the Tokaido, it had a very good reputation, and it was imitated by lantern craftsmen from various places. It is said that the name of the lantern spread throughout the country as "Odawara lantern".
In the lyrics of the nursery rhyme "Odawara lantern hanging" was written in the lyrics of the nursery rhyme "Monkey basket", which was deeply engraved in the hearts of many people. .
We hope that Odawara's traditional culture, "Odawara Lantern," will be handed down to children, foster local love, and pass it on to many people in the future as a proud story of Odawara. Therefore, it seems that all sixth graders in Odawara's elementary school are instructing them to make this Odawara lantern by members of the Odawara lantern production volunteer association.
It's a great way of handing down. You can also see "Odawara Lantern Production Volunteer Activities" on YouTube. The appearance of making Odawara lanterns together with parents and children is as long as they are smiling.
At the Odawara Lantern Festival, which is held in early October every year, "Odawara Lantern Art" 1.700 lanterns from elementary school students in the city will be exhibited at Odawara Castle Honmaru Square.
By all means, I would like to hang my lanterns this time and participate.
The Odawara Lantern Production Volunteer Association provided careful support, so I put it on a Japanese paper that had already drawn a picture with a bond on a bone assembled with a vinyl flat chin.
Since there is a wooden frame, I was able to work stably. I was nervous about applying bonds to 12 bones one by one.
I also took care of the work of sticking Japanese paper firmly with both hands.
It's been since I was a student that I focused on making so much.
The joy at the time of completion jumped up and said, "I was able to do it," as when I returned to my childhood, and I was delighted.
Odawara lantern with my name is now ready. I went home and hung an Odawara lantern at the entrance.
Every day, Odawara lanterns welcome you. It seems that after 10 years, it will become a good candy color. I'm looking forward to it.
The Iba Senmai fan softens your eyes in the living room.
I'm glad that there are many events that Japanese have never experienced.
Foreigners will also enjoy the traditional Japanese culture and understand Japan.
I would like to encourage you to actively participate in such events.
