Let's take a look at the basic information of Yanagibashi from "Monoshiri Encyclopedia".

Yanagibashi is an iron bridge built over the estuary where the Kanda River flows into the Sumida River.

You can see the Ryogoku Bridge in the immediate vicinity.

This area may be said to be the northernmost area when viewed from the whole Chuo-ku.

It's also the border with Taito Ward.

If you cross the Kanda River, you will find JR Asakusabashi Station very close.

It was the beginning of Yanagibashi that the old town built a wooden bridge in 1698 (1698).

In 1887 (1887), it was replaced by a truss bridge.

This bridge was made of steel, but it was dropped due to the Great Kanto Earthquake.

The current bridge was built in 1929 (1929).

A simple and heavy design is adopted using the Eitai Bridge as a model.

In addition, it is the first bridge at the mouth of the tributary pouring into the Sumida River.

This area has been famous as a base for boating since the Edo period.

It is also described in literary works such as Kafu Nagai's "Peony Guest" and Riichi Yokomitsu's "Crest".

The area around Yanagibashi is a place that was famous as "Hanamachi".

For this reason, a small "Kanzashi relief" was attached to the balustrade of the bridge.

There are two types of red and blue ornaments.

It is in the form that it is alternately attached to the balustrade of the bridge.

In fact, there is no mention of this "Relief of Kanzashi" in "Monoshiri Encyclopedia".

To get a high score, it's also important to walk around the city and actually see it.
