The Paula Ginza Building is based on the concept of three "beauty" - "beauty", "art" and "gastronomy". It was built in 2009 as part of the 80th anniversary of the founding of Paula. The vertical curtain wall facade made of transparent glass and matte aluminum panels inspired by water drops are very impressive, and at night it is beautifully lit up by LED lighting.
This time, we visited Mikiko Matsumoto, director of the Corporate Communication Office of Pola Orbis Holdings Co., Ltd., at the Paula Museum Annex on the 3rd floor of the Paula Ginza Building, and interviewed for this blog post.

In 2002, the Pola Museum of Art was born in Hakone and the Paula Museum Annex in Ginza.
The Pola Museum of Art is run by the Paula Art Foundation. Tsuneshi Suzuki, the second generation of Paula founder, wanted to open the works of art he had collected for decades to the public. Currently, the number of works collected is about 10,000. The core is Western and modern Japanese paintings since the 19th century, and the collection of impressionist paintings is said to be one of Japan's largest collections.
On the other hand, Paula Museum Annex is operated by Pola Orbis Holdings, Inc. Initially, it was mainly used as a rental gallery / event space, but with the restart at the Paula Ginza Building in 2009, it has been developing a variety of special exhibitions from the collection of the Pola Museum of Art to contemporary art throughout the year.
"Pola Museum Annex" is a "place" that fosters art.

Real beauty is the first time that it is realized with inner beauty and richness of the heart - it has been since Paula's founding. "Paula Museum Annex" provides a "place" where customers can come into contact with and love a variety of art through each special exhibition, especially while being aware of the sensitivity of women in their 20s and 40s.
I visited Paula Museum Annex for coverage during the period of "Paula Museum Annex Exhibition 2023 - Independence and Integration - (first half)". This is an exhibition of young artists who have been subsidized by the Paula Art Promotion Foundation for overseas training. It is held every year with the aim of providing opportunities for many people to see the results of the training and utilizing it in future writer activities. One of the missions of Paula Museum Annex is to become a "place" for young artists to present their works.

The "Paula Museum Annex" allows you to go straight by the elevator on the Chuo-dori side without entering the shop. Admission is free. From late April, an exhibition of an installation by sculptor Yushi Nishijima (the space where the work is placed is art) is planned. Occasionally, in Ginza, how about "tea time of heart" while casually watching art?
