A 79-year-old active bird!
Japanese-style doll house writer: Katsumi Takahashi
Edgran B1F Town Museum
A special exhibition of "Miniature World Exhibition" is being held!
Hello, this is "Take-chan" of correspondent. As introduced in the previous blog, "Hiroya Hoshino with Teruhisa Kitahara Talk & Live" was held at 16:00 on March 5th (Sun) at Edgran 3F Office Lounge in Kyobashi.
I was blessed with the opportunity to have a direct interview with Katsumi Takahashi, a Japanese-style dollhouse writer who came there as an audience. Until June 26, you can see the works of Katsumi Takahashi in Yokosuka City and Ritsuko Takabaya in Yamaguchi Prefecture at the special exhibition of the "Miniature World Exhibition" at the Town Museum on the 1st floor of Edgran underground until June 26.
What a happy "Take-chan" to see Mr. Takahashi!
What is a miniature?...
According to this description, "miniature is a work of faithful scale. It seems to be a model that scales down and reproduces the object. The one that adds people and stories to the miniature is called "Doll House". Dollhouses are basically made in a size of 1/12. In a nutshell, I was impressed that Mr. Takahashi's work was made with "thorough commitment", "shape" and "color". I'm sorry, Mr. Takahashi. Even though I'm an amateur, I just pretended to know it (laughs).
Apple market
According to Mr. Takahashi, this work was created based on the memory of "There was such a market" when he traveled to Tohoku with his husband about 40 years ago. Takahashi spends about two years on one work. Since I started this job at the age of 52, I have never wanted to stop it because it was fun and fun, and I have continued to make it with the feeling of "I want to make more!"
Mr. Takahashi, who was originally a Japanese confectionery craftsman, said that he was good at detailed work and good at painting. But Dollhouse production said, "I have never learned from anyone and there is no teacher." It is said that it can be created freely because it has been done by your own flow so far.
The bookstore "Tama Shobo"
This is a bookstore called Tama Shobo, which has become a hot topic on SNS. This doll house is, of course, faithfully reproduced one by one, handmade by Mr. Takahashi. If it's a photo, it will only look real. The real wonders of this work are hard to convey, so be sure to visit the first basement floor of Kyobashi Edgran. I'm so surprised that the art is fine and I'm impressed!
What's a bit interesting is that on the right side of the magazine shelf, do you see the advertisement of "Remnants Sundamari" written on yellow paper? This book is a collection of works by Takahashi, published in 2011. It contains works such as the nostalgic streets of Showa, public baths, barber shops, wooden school buildings, carriage station buildings, and morning markets in Aomori. It's nice to have your own advertising in your work again!
Morning Market in Aomori
According to Mr. Takahashi, this work started by actually going to the fish market in Aomori, taking pictures, measuring the size of the fish, and seeing it with his own eyes. Cod, salmon, crab, etc. are made of clay, and snow is made of baking soda. Baking soda seems difficult to glue.
