Pine in Kakigara-cho

I found an old map on the street corner

While walking along Marunouchi Nakadori on the west side of JR Tokyo Station, an old map called "Edo period near this area" was displayed on the sidewalk. This old map is from Ansei 3 (1856) and is a map that cuts out around Tokyo Station today. Since it is displayed overlaid with a modern map, the position is easy to understand. You can see outer moat, Sukiyabashi, Kajibashi, Kyobashi River, Dosanbori, etc. You can also see that Chuo-dori in Ginza is "Shin Ryogaecho" north of today's Harumi-dori St. and "Owaricho" south.
Looking at such an old map, there are various discoveries and it is interesting.
By the way, about the history of Tokyo Station, you can listen to a detailed story in "Mystery about Tokyo Station" (broadcast on July 10, 2019) of Chuo FM "Doboku no Radio", so if you are interested, please upload it to YouTube Please listen to the sound source.
