Monument to "The birthplace of Tokyo School for the Blind, the land of the establishment of Braille in Japan"

There is a brown granite monument in Ichiba Bridge Park in Tsukiji, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.

The chronology of the school building and the map of the school building since the opening of the "Rakuzenkai Kunblind House" are engraved.

Alumni associations, former staff, PTA members, etc. of the University of Tsukuba Special Needs School for the Visual Special Needs (School for the Blind) and the Hearing Special Needs School (School for the Deaf), formed the "Memorial Executive Committee" and started classes in 130 years. It was erected in 2010, the 120th anniversary of Braille enactment.

The chronological table is also engraved with Braille.

Among the volunteers called "Rakuzenkai", the names of not only Japanese but also Westerners who lived in their settlements can be seen.

In addition, there is a "monument of the origin of type" in the same Tsukiji area.

It is very interesting that education and Braille for the visually impaired and hearing impaired have been born in this area almost at the same time as the birth of the printing culture.
