Monument to "Tokyo Blind School, Birthplace of Japanese Braille Establishment"
There is a brown granite monument in Ichiba Bridge Park in Tsukiji, Chuo-ku, Tokyo.
The chronology and map of the school building after the opening of the Rakuzenkai Nin Blindin are engraved.
Alumni associations, former staff, PTA members, etc. of the University of Tsukuba Special Needs School (Blind School) and the Special Deaf School (Deaf School) formed the Monument Executive Committee. It was erected in 2010 (Heisei 22), which is the 120th anniversary of the establishment of Braille.
The chronology is also engraved with Braille.
Among the volunteers called "Rakuzenkai", you can see not only the Japanese but also the names of Westerners who lived in the reservation.
In addition, there is also a "monument of the origin of type" in the same Tsukiji area.
It is very interesting that education and Braille for the visually and hearing impaired have been born at almost the same time as the birth of the printing culture.
