Uminomon Story, a specialty of Nori and the Sea
This is the thought of opening a new store by Shingo Ito, the fourth generation of the owner, Ito Nori Store.
In 2023, my great-grandfather, Tomoyo Ito, founded the Ito Nori Store in both Tokyo and Tokyo, 100 years.
In recent years, it was the time when my father, the third generation, died suddenly and the COVID-19 pandemic, but since the end of last year, we have been proceeding with property negotiations for a new store in the form of the "Marumiya Nori Store".
Marumiya's father and mother were also Mr. Ito, and when I heard it, I was from Nagano, the same as the first generation, and felt a deep connection. In the same way, as a company that has been spinning a long history in Tsukiji, I wished that I could somehow inherit my thoughts.
This year, laver is poor, especially in Ariake Sea, which is unusually bad, and many laver officials are bothering their heads, and I am one of them. There is no good seaweed because the purchase price has doubled.…It's a situation that no one has ever experienced.
In January of this year, we crossed the seaside of the three prefectures of Saga, Fukuoka, and Kumamoto, and met various seaweed fishermen and seaweed shops to talk.
Everyone I met said, "Ariake Sea has changed a little."
"I don't know what I can do, but let's create a good business model for the Japanese sea and explore ways to be a company that can survive as a seaweed merchant for the next 100 years." I launched a new brand concept.
Part of the proceeds from the opening stores will be donated to contribute to the shallow aquaculture industry, including the regeneration of the sea in Japan and seaweed aquaculture.
Thanks to you, Tsukiji has many young Japanese customers, including overseas customers, and it is very busy every day! The products that can be eaten on the spot are also attractive, but Tsukiji has a lot of delicious foods.
Together with the Ito Nori store, we would like to make it a lively shop that can convey the way and enjoyment of face-to-face sales to the next generation like Tsukiji.
Nori all-star
Nori products such as seaweed, seasoned seaweed, sprinkle, blue seaweed, blue seaweed, etc. are available. In addition to our own products, we have delicious seaweed products from all over the country. There are rare items such as Kumamoto ega sprinkles, ega rolls, yuzu and butter tidbits laver.
There is also a blue seaweed of Ise-Shima.
It's a seaweed tsukudani. Since it is a stick type, it is good for outdoor activities or lunch boxes.
Delicious seaweed products from all over the country are gathered in Tsukiji.
Of course, there are many in-house products such as "The father of Noriya is Ariake only".

Ito Nori Store
As you know, the Ito Nori store is on the corner of Namiki-dori and Tsukiji-Higashi-dori. Personally, I'm very grateful for the tasting of the dashi pack. Ichikawa is the main store, right? There are other shops, but the story is again this time.

About poor harvest of Ariake Sea laver
The following is a supplement to Ariake Sea's nori bad harvest, "Ariake Sea has changed a little." It has been reprinted from the announcement of the Ito Nori Store on March 4th.
Thank you very much for your continued patronage of our laver.
It is Shingo, the fourth generation of Ito Nori Store.
Nori of this year (2023) was frequently swept away in the press, so there is no such thing.
Thank you very much for your concern and support from many customers.
To put it simply, this year's situation is the worst situation, whether or not it is once every 50 years.
At almost all of the fishing grounds in Saga, Fukuoka and Kumamoto in Ariake Sea, the old sea conditions as shown in the photo below continued until the time when the most delicious seaweed that has been well received at our shop was made.
It is thought that this was due to the occurrence of abnormal plankton due to the effect of light rain from around October last year, and the nutritional status of the sea was extremely poor for a long time. One factor is that the population of bivalve (such as clams and red mussels) is extremely low and it is easy to create such sea conditions.
In the latter half of January, I spent several days visiting seaweed fishermen and seaweed wholesalers in Ariake Sea to cover the situation of this bad harvest. It seems that there have been some places where seaweed cultivation facilities have been done due to the cold wave of the other day, and it is a shape that has been further hunted down by poor harvest. The total production volume is estimated to be between 7 billion and 6 billion each year, but it is expected to be about half this year.
The Japanese government does not know what kind of response it will take at the moment, but if this bad harvest continues, imports of "China and Korea seaweed" will be liberalized from the viewpoint of consumer protection, and cheap overseas products will be distributed, I am most worried that the demand for Japanese seaweed will drop and the seaweed industry will be in danger.
In our store, we will respond by raising prices and changing the content, but we will continue to do so next year and beyond.
The market price is fixed because supply continues to be insufficient for demand. I'm very sorry.
However, we will adjust the selling price etc. each time, including various circumstances.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
