2023 Spring soft traditional color "Yamabuki"
"Japan globeflower" (Yamabuki) planted in the back of the button garden of Hamarikyu Onshi Garden, Hanakien, etc. is blooming. Under the blue sky, wrapped in sprouted green, supple branches are filled with bright "Yamabuki" flowers, and the swaying in the wind is a spring-colored landscape. Japan globeflower is a deciduous shrub of the family Rosaceae and wild throughout Japan. There are five-petaled single-flowered flowers and horticultural varieties of double-flowered, which were written in Manyoshu and appeared in The Tale of Genji. White flowers are called "Shirobanayamabuki", but the approximate four-petaled "Shiroyamabuki" is a separate genus. double-flowered does not bear fruit, as it is described in the poem "Nanae Yae Hana is blooming but one of the fruits of Yamabuki" by King Kanemei, which was included in the Wakashu Wakashu Wakashu. Regarding the origin of Japan globeflower's name, there are various theories such as the "Yamafuri" distortion theory of thin and supple branches swaying in the wind, and the "Yamaharuki" distortion theory of many yellow flowers during the flowering season. Yamabukiiro is a traditional color name derived from Japan globeflower. "Hanayamabuki", one of the color schemes of women's layers in the Heian period, "Kasanirome", expresses the soft atmosphere of spring.
