Walk Sumida River Terrace Gallery
Nice to meet you! My name is Tiara.
This time, I would like to introduce my favorite way to enjoy "Sumida River Terrace".
It is a walk while looking at the "Sumida River Terrace Gallery" near Hamacho.
※What is the Sumida River Terrace Gallery?…In Tokyo, we aim to create the bustle of the waterside, a valuable urban space, and to enhance the attractiveness of the city. In the Sumida River, as the "Sumida River Terrace Gallery", Nishiki-e, such as the cityscape from Edo to Showa, is displayed on the seawall. (Excerpt from the Tokyo Metropolitan Construction Bureau website)
The historical background of the paintings in the gallery ranges from Edo to Showa, and just looking at it makes me feel as if I had slipped back in time to that era. I like walking while envisioning the background of the times.♪
The Sumida River Terrace Gallery is located not only near Hamacho, but also in both countries in Sumida Ward and near Imado, Taito Ward.
The galleries in both countries have overwhelmingly many paintings on display from the other two regions, and the whole museum! It is also characterized by many sumo-related paintings.
Imado's gallery displays the culture and cityscape around Imado using Nishiki-e from the Edo Tokyo Museum.
It's getting cooler in the morning and evening, so it's recommended to take a relaxing walk while looking at the Sumida River Terrace Gallery.♪
