Let's go to Ginza in Meiji!
At the invitation of the Edo Tokyo Museum, I went to Ginza in Meiji period. Of course, it's about VR.
On April 26, "Hyper Edo Expo Meiji Ginza Edition" was released from the Edo Tokyo Museum as the second installment of the experience-based application "Hyper Edo Expo", which fully utilizes the game engine.
In the second edition, the Meiji Ginza edition, we recreated Tokyo Ginza in Meiji period, which sparkles in Civilization and enlightenment, in a 3D space based on the Ginza brick street model at the Edo Tokyo Museum and materials from those days. Users travel time around Ginza, Meiji period, where westernization is progressing, looking for 100 items hidden in the app. From the beginning of modern society such as electricity, gas, rickshaws and trains, literary artists such as fashion and food, and Soseki Natsume, which are gorgeous living cultures, also appeared. Children and adults can enjoy learning about the systems and culture that formed the current Tokyo through the app.
Characteristics of "Hyper Edo Expo Meiji Ginza Edition"
"Hyper Edo Expo" is an application where users can stroll through the 3DCG space reproduced based on models and historical materials of the permanent exhibition of the Edo Tokyo Museum while manipulating characters.
As in the first installment, in addition to searching for collections hidden in the app, inspired by conversations with characters that appear, in the second installment, you can enjoy a "time trip" that moves time and place on four stages. In addition, a new AR function using 3D data from the collection has been added.
Let's find 100 items from the exhibition of Edo Hiroshi
As in the first installment, this app hides 100 items selected from approximately 350,000 items from the Edo Tokyo Museum's collection. Users will walk around the city of Ginza, which welcomes Civilization and enlightenment, while collecting collections and their commentary.
3DCG, which conveys the cityscape and life of Meiji from a first-person perspective
This app is equipped with a screen viewer function from a first-person perspective, so you can look around the cityscape at that time as if you were there. In addition, the people of Ichii and historical people come to talk and tell them tips for collecting collections and points for walking. With these features, users can enjoy the app interactively while witnessing historical events such as the Ginza fire and the opening of Shimbashi Station.
Different characters appear on four stages
In the second installment, "Time Travel" was included as a new game. Meiji period was divided into four ages to form a stage. Each character will appear. In addition, if you collect 60 collections, you will be able to move freely on the four stages, allowing you to "time travel" stories that transcend time and place.
Equipped with an AR function that utilizes 3D data from the collection. Meiji period and the real world fuse
In the second installment, out of the 100 collections that appear, 6 are equipped with 3D data AR functions. We combine vehicles and tools from the time, such as bicycles and ice cream mills, with the real world, take photos, and post them on SNS to provide a new way of enjoying.
Of course, English is also available.
The Edo Tokyo Museum, which has been closed for a long time since April 2022, provides content that allows students to continuously learn about life, culture and history of Edo Tokyo through this app. The content that combines the wealth of knowledge and materials possessed by the museum with the participation that game companies are good at has become a hot topic, and the first "Edo Ryogoku Edition" has achieved a cumulative total of about 50,000 downloads.
It is downloaded not only in Japan but also overseas such as the United States, Taiwan, and U.K., and is gaining popularity because it combines the fun of adventure games and the learning function of the collection. You can choose Japanese and English as the language.
The second 3DCG is really different. By all means, please download it and enjoy Ginza in Meiji.
