Ginza Maison Hermes building, like lanterns (lantern) that illuminate the street corner of Ginza (completed in 2001). The design was designed by Renzo Piano, one of Italy's leading architects. The Pompidou Centre in Paris and the Kansai International Airport Passenger Terminal Building are his works. About 13,000 glass blocks, which are said to have been designed by Renzo Piano himself, were made at a factory on the outskirts of Florence, Italy. By hanging and installing them from above instead of stacking them, the slight shaking of each glass block reduces the shaking of a large earthquake.

The "Ginza Maison Hermes Forum" is located on the 8th and 9th floors of the Ginza Maison Hermes building, and the atrium facing the glass block where natural light pours in is very impressive. The exhibition space itself can be said to be the work of Renzo Piano. Since the introduction of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), which opened in 1929, artists will challenge "experiments that can only be done here now" at this unique "Ginza Maison Hermes Forum", which is different from "White Cube", which has become synonymous with the exhibition space.

"Forums" - Our gestures make us and become our own mirror.

The Ginza Maison Hermes Forum was established in 2001 with the completion of the Ginza Maison Hermes building at one of the four Hermes art galleries around the world (the others are St. Louise Le Bitchu in France, Brussels in Belgium, and Seoul in Korea). The late fifth chairman, Jean Louis Duma Hermes (1938-2010), is said to have been carrying watercolor paints in a bag and drawing when he came up with something. His idea that "art is originally in our lives and continues to live with life" has been passed down to the Forum.

As a place that is open to everyone with free admission, we have provided opportunities to meet art in everyday life. Currently operated by the Hermes Foundation (established in Paris in 2008), the curators of each gallery are developing their own programs.

In addition, the basic stance of "Forum" is focused on "creating with artists", "talking", and "snuggle up with creation" in contemporary art, which is difficult to evaluate. We support artists' production activities through holding exhibitions, but we do not have a collection. I feel the spirit and elegance of Hermes in the existence and activities of the Forum.

In addition, at the irregular gallery tour (confirmation of the date and time on the Ginza Maison Hermes Forum website), the person in charge of the Forum can listen to explanations about the background of the exhibition and each work. Actually, I am not very familiar with contemporary art, so I would like to participate once.
