Restoration of Jobanbashi from the water

On the Nihonbashi River, which flows near the Bank of Japan, there are three Tokiwabashi bridges. From the upstream, "Shin Tokiwa Bridge", "Tokiwa Bridge" and "Tokiwa Bridge". The history of Tokiwabashi in the middle is very old, and the first bridge was built in 1590, which is exactly the year when Ieyasu Tokugawa entered Edo Castle. The current Ishibashi was completed in 1877.
In response to the need for restoration due to the influence of the Great East Japan Earthquake, the stone was dismantled one by one, numbered, placed temporarily, and assembled again. When I got on a boat and passed here, I could see the stones arranged neatly on the barge up close. The sound of "Kin, Kin, Kin" hitting the stone by the mason was impressive. It is a sound that can only be heard now during construction.
