A place where you can see Basho

The representative of the haiku master of the Edo period was Matsuo Basho (1644-1694).
The relationship between Matsuo Basho and Chuo-ku is known to have lived in a rented house in Odawaracho (now Muromachi 1-chome) for eight years after Basho came to Edo from his hometown of Iga countrystone monument.
In addition, there are several Basho monuments standing in the ward, and correspondents have been featured in articles so far.
If you search with "Basho" in the search window of the correspondent blog, an article that is responsive to the correspondents will be hit, so please check it!

By the way, did you know that there are spots in addition to those in stone monument where you can see Basho's statue?…?
That is the "Kiyosubashi" that everyone loves in this photo.

What is Basho seen from the top of Kiyosu Bridge?

What is Basho seen from the top of Kiyosu Bridge? A place where you can see Basho

From the top of Kiyosu Bridge, look at the north side where you can see the Tokyo Sky Tree, and move your field of view slightly to the right.
On the left side of the light green Mannen Bridge, where the Sumida River and the Onagi River meet, you can see a closer look.…

A place where you can see Basho

You can see the Basho statue facing the side!
This photo is quite zoom-up, but you can manage to see it with the naked eye.
Occasionally, by taking a closer look at the distance, you may be able to stretch your eyes looking at your smartphone at a close distance.

The true identity of the Basho statue

A place where you can see Basho's true identity

This Basho statue is installed in the "Basho-an Historic Site Observation Garden" (1-1-3 Tokiwa) in Koto-ku next door.
The roof of the building along the Sumida River is a garden, and the statue is placed there, so you can see it clearly from Kiyosu Bridge.
It is said that there was Basho-an near this garden, and there are several spots related to Basho, such as Basho Inari Shrine and Basho Memorial Hall. It is also recommended to cross Kiyosu Bridge and take a walk on the Koto-ku side.

Fushigi hidden in Basho statue

A place where you can see Fushigi Basho hidden in Basho statue

By the way, when I visited Kiyosu Bridge again after 17 o'clock in the evening, I noticed something unusual.
Isn't the Basho statue, which should have been facing the side earlier, facing here? ! !

A place where you can see Basho

During the day, the Basho statue faces the entrance of the Basho-an Historic Site Observation Garden, so it becomes sideways when viewed from Kiyosu Bridge.
However, since this garden will close at 16:30, at 17:00, the statue of Basho rotates and turns toward Kiyosu Bridge. In addition, it is lit up from dark until 22:00.
Therefore, if you look at the statue of Basho from Kiyosu Bridge, the goal is between 17:00 and 22:00!

When I went to the Basho-an Historic Site Observation Garden and looked from the viewpoint of the Basho statue after 17:00, it was a special seat where the beautiful curve of Kiyosu Bridge could be seen in front. In the back, you can see Chuo-ohashi Bridge and Eitai Bridge.
This section of the Sumida River was the beginning of the Okuno Hosomichi trip, but when Matsuo Basho was alive, there was no Kiyosu Bridge yet. What kind of phrase did Basho write if he saw Kiyosu Bridge?…I'm thinking about it.
