The current main hall was rebuilt in 1934 and was designed by Chuta Ito.
It is characterized by its appearance that imitates ancient Buddhist architecture in India. On the other hand, the interior is made of a traditional Sanomune temple.

The front motif of the roof of main hall is the leaves of a bodhi tree, with lotus flowers in the center.

In 2012, the official name was changed from "Honganji Tsukiji Betsuin" to "Tsukiji Honganji".
