Runner must-see! Prayer for completion at Daikanonji Temple, which is enshrined in Skanda
Hello. I'm Hanes, an active correspondent.
So far, "Celebration of Fruit Tree Kingdom Higashine Sakurabo Marathon" will be held! As mentioned in "Running at Harumi Wharf Park" and "Toward the 20th Fruit Tree Kingdom Higashine Sakurabo Marathon", held on Sunday, June 4 in Higashine City, a friendship city in Chuo-ku, Yamagata Prefecture I participated in the "20th Fruit Tree Kingdom Higashine Sakurabo Marathon" for the first time!
It is the first time to participate in the citizen marathon event, so before departure, I took it in Chuo-ku.
I prayed for the completion at Ogannonji Temple in Nihonbashi Ningyocho, where the running guardian angel Skanda is enshrined.
Daikanonji is presumed to be a work of the Kamakura period, and is known for the main deity Tetsuzo Bodhisattva (Tokyo Designated Cultural Property), which was enshrined here from Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gu Shrine by the Shinto and Buddha separation order after the Meiji Restoration.
At the time of Great East Japan Earthquake, it is also known for the episode that the other Buddhist utensils were left as they were, and only this principal turned to the east, and is called "The Wonder of Heisei."
Following this event, the 11th was added to the opening day, and the door was opened every month on the 11th and 17th, so anyone can visit.
It is also a temple of the 33rd Kannon No. 3 temple in Edo, and is famous for doll memorial service.
The shrine of Skanda, which prayed for the completion this time, was erected in 1983, and this year has celebrated its 40th anniversary.
The reason for the construction seems to be unclear, but it is now popular as a sacred place for runners.
The glass windows of shrine office were marked with a cutout of the Tokyo Shimbun on January 13, 2010, with headlines such as "Ningyocho Great Kannon-ji Citizen Runners one after another", "Run into Skanda", and "Tokyo Marathon 31 km point Prayer will surely finish!"
When visiting, be sure to check out the newspaper clips.♪
In the first place, Skanda was regarded as a god of agility based on an anecdote that Skanda chased and regained when a demon stole a Buddhist priest at Sengakuji Temple in Kyoto.
Do you mean that there is such a connection to Kyoto?... On the north side of the shrine, there is a guardian sandals dedicated by Enryakuji Temple practitioners of Mt. Hiei Kaiho.
In shrine office, there are also gifts related to Skanda, such as gauze towel, Skanda red seal book, fluorescent armband (for running at night), skin guard, wooden tag guard, and kitchen guard tag (Skanda, the god of food procurement in the kitchen)!

Summer is a season with relatively few marathons, but if you are preparing for a marathon or athletics tournament in the future, why not pray for completion and good results at Daikanonji?
I prayed here, and I was able to finish the cherries marathon safely.
I would like to introduce the details of the tournament.
