Do you like abstract paintings?
―From "ununderstandable" to "enjoy to see"-

Hello. It's "Take-chan."

On the night of June 21, at the Museum Tower Kyobashi at Kyobashi 1-chome, the 42nd Art and Culture Lecture "Do you like abstract paintings? -From "intelligible" to "enjoy to see"-" was held. I didn't know "Take-chan" until recently, but the "Art and Culture Lecture" is an area management corporation in Kyobashi Aya-ku, a block consisting of two buildings, Museum Tower Kyobashi and TODA BUILDING, which opened in 2024. It is a course that has been regularly conducted since October 2019 with the aim of becoming an “art and culture base”. The feature is that you can invite a variety of guests every month to attend not only art but also a wide range of courses such as music, food, photography, traditional culture and performing arts for free.

Lecturers this time were artist Kunio Nakamura (left photo) and Artizon Museum Education and Extension Director / curator Yasuhide Niihata (right photo). As a surprise only this time, it will be held in the lecture room of the museum. In addition to the light and exquisite talks of the two, the Artizon Museum after closing is explained for a short time, but you can look around together, and the one and a half hours course passed quickly .

Kunio Nakamura is the president of Ogikubo's Six Dimensions. I have participated in the Yamagata Biennale and the Tokyo Biennale as an artist. In 2021, the "Kinsugi Anthology" exhibition was held at the Higashine City Museum of Art to display vessels produced with citizens from all over the Tohoku region.

Mr. Nakamura's books are "Kintsu Techo", "Arture Techo", "Adventure over the World of Books", "Introduction to Art History to Read on aChart", "Introduction to Art History to Read with Motif", "Textbook of West Painting Understanding by Drawing", There are many such as "Western Painting History of Artists" and "Kojise Museum".

In the course, the venue was excited by a light talk. "Take-chan", a beginner in art and painting, talked about the fun of abstract paintings in words that are easy to understand. "Oh, it was really fun! I'm glad I participated!" is an honest impression.

According to the website of the Artizon Museum, this exhibition is described in this way.

From the end of the 19th century to the outbreak of World War I, during the time of Bell Epoch, where France was able to enjoy peace and richness, full of vitality and free atmosphere that creates art, new art such as Forvism and Cubism sprouted and Hanasaki, and eventually abstract paintings awakened as one of the destinations of expression. The subsequent development of abstract paintings led the expression of paintings in the 20th century, and the tide spread to Japan at the same time. This exhibition focuses on trends in Western Europe, the United States, and Japan, mainly in France, until the 1960s, from impressionist to the creation of abstract paintings through an innovative painting movement in the beginning of the century.

After taking this art and culture course, I think that I understood the basics of abstract painting. In this course, as a surprise, we toured paintings and sculptures of the Artizon Museum, valuable books and posters in a short time, but Mr. Nakamura and Mr. Niihata explained in the course, "Frantissec Kupka" Etude with a red background "around 1919" (The picture in this photo!) And "Robert Delaunay's Window of the City 1912", "Vacyly Kandinsky's "Shining himself" 1924", "Paul Cezanne's "Santo-Victory Mountain and Chateau Noir" around 1904-06" are all about to be held at this exhibition until August 20th.
