Minatokko Diary Tsukuda's leisurely pigeon

Minatokko Diary

When I was walking around Tsukuda, a pigeon was relaxing.

It's completely relaxed and full.

He was so cute that he stopped his feet and looked at him.

This is the promenade of Tsukuda River City 21. If you go down the stairs, you will find the Sumida River Terrace.

Chuo-ohashi Bridge to the north, Tsukuda-ohashi Bridge to the south, and Kamejima River Sluice Gate to the opposite bank and Minami Takahashi to the south. And since the Edo period, you can see the whole area called the "gungun". Minato, Akashicho, Tsukiji…This was Edo Minato, the gateway to the sea.

Tsukuda's history is related to Ieyasu Tokugawa, and in 1644, fishermen from Tsukuda-mura, Nishinari-gun, Settsu-kuni, built an island in 1644 on the east tidal flat in the gunshot port worshiped by the Shogunate. Beginning with the construction of

The following year, a ferry connecting the city of Edo came out, and until recently, it is said to be the beginning of Tsukuda's ferry, which has a 300-year history, loved as a remnant of the Edo atmosphere.

In 1876, he was also referred to as "the delivery of the five" because he took one of the wages.

In 1927, instead of the free Hikifune ferry operated by Tokyo City, it was nicknamed the Pom Pong ship.

With the prosperity of the Ishikawajima Shipyard, Tsukuda Island ferry was busy enough to make 70 round trips a day at the most frequent time.

It was deeply engraved in the memory of many people as a symbol of the good old days, absorbed into people's lives.

In 1964, the Tsukuda Island ferry disappeared with the completion of Tsukuda-ohashi Bridge as the town changed rapidly toward the Tokyo Olympics.

"Tsukudani" was, of course, born here.

Fishermen's wolves thought of food that would not rot even if left on a boat all day, and made small fish boiled down with salt water.

Eventually, when soy sauce came in from Shimousa, it began to boil it down with soy sauce.

This is the taste of Tsukudani, which is familiar to you.

Sumiyoshi-jinja Shirine in Tsukuda was considered to be the guardian of the Nihonbashi Fish Bank, and attracted religions from many merchants and sailors.

One day, the head of a restaurant called Iseta in Kayabacho worshiped and was served Tsukudani, and I was impressed by the taste and wanted to sell it in Edo City.

After that, it was said that it was an opportunity to spread Tsukudani to many people.

Tsukuda still has a long-established store of Tsukudani that has been around since the Edo period.

The promenade of Tsukuda River City 21 is full of seasonal flowers.

The sun is shining on the surface of the water.

"It has changed a lot, too.…」

The back of the pigeon, which seemed to be saying like that.

"Yes,"

And Minato kid.

"I like this town,"

"Yes, too,"

It was a quiet afternoon with the sunbeams soft shadows.
