Cultural Property of Minato Meiji period
Hello, this is Minato kid.
Minato 1-chome has a clay pipe of Meiji period. Along the gunpowder street, at the base of the former Inari Bridge, in the planting of the building, it is immersed in the overflowing greenery, and the pipe is there.
The three clay pipes are full of flowers inside, like potted plants. I always thought that it was quite large for potted plants while watching over, and it was not just potted plants!
The other day, an information board was installed for the first time. So, I would like to introduce it to you.
In 2016, the fifth excavation survey of Minato 2-chome was conducted.
This clay pipe excavated at that time was used as a pumping port for Meiji period and wells, and is Tokoname ware. It was discovered so that it could be stacked in three steps. In this way, it is unusual for a large clay pipe to be excavated with its appearance kept neatly.
Now, the role has been changed to potted plants, and three are lined up. The information board also felt humor when it started with the word "The clay pipe used for potted plants is-". Information board that understands that valuable archeological sites are potted. Somehow, it's warm, isn't it?
During the Edo period, large pots and jars were produced in Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture, and mass-produced in Meiji period along with modernization of the city. This clay pipe is one of them, and it conveys the lives of the people at that time.
