In 1733, the Sumida River Fireworks Festival was revived in 1978, inheriting the tradition of "Ryogoku River Opening", which was said to originate in the `` Water God Festival '' praying for the memorial service of those who were victims of the great famine and the epidemic of the previous year. In 2020 due to the COVID-19 disaster, the event was held for the first time in four years at 19:00 on July 29 due to the transition to Class 5. At the first venue from the lower part of Sakurabashi to the upper part of Kototoi Bridge, a fireworks contest was held by a total of 10 companies, including those related to Ryogoku and those who achieved excellent results in fireworks festival, one of Japan's representative 10 companies. The Tokyo Sky Tree also has a special lighting in line with the fireworks festival, inspired by the immortal birds that will resurrect even if they die. Sumida River Ohashi is one of the viewpoints. Looking up the upper reaches of the Sumida River, you can see the Tokyo Sky Tree behind the illuminated Kiyosubashi center and the colorful large flowers return bloom at the upper left end. The city center is the 11th hot day, the highest ever in July for six consecutive days. It is a major summer event that blows away the heat by blowing out the pleasant breeze across the river.
