Sumida River Fireworks Festival seen from Chuo-ohashi Bridge
The Sumida River Fireworks Festival, a summer tradition in Tokyo, has a little distance to the fireworks launch site, but you can also enjoy it from Chuo-ohashi Bridge.
The houseboat passing through the Sumida River and the fireworks seen along with the Eitai Bridge and the Sky Tree illuminated in blue are the scenery unique to the city center.
The Sumida River Fireworks Festival originated in 1733 by Yatsushiro Shogun Yoshimune Tokugawa, and is said to have been launched by the sixth generation Kagiya Yahee of pyrotechnician.
The initial fireworks were launched near Ryogoku Bridge, and the number of balls seemed to be small compared to the present at around 20, but the impact on the people of Edo was large and it became an annual river opening.
At present, the launch site has changed, and the fireworks of the Sumida River have moved slightly far from Chuo-ku, but in the Edo period, when there were no skyscrapers yet, how do people see fireworks rising in the night sky with the sound of explosions? I think it's fun to see while imagining how I was looking up.
