Think about the roots of Sumiyoshi-jinja Shirine.
Sumiyoshi-jinja Shirine in Tsukuda, Chuo-ku has a tradition and history since the opening of Edo, and has a deep connection with Ieyasu Tokugawa, so it has long been worshiped as the guardian angel of the sea between Edo and Tokyo.
In early August, the annual festival was held for the first time in five years, and the entire shrine parishioner area of Tsukuda, Tsukishima, Kachidoki and Harumi were very exciting. Because it is a god who has a deep connection to "water", watering has become a feature.
As you know, [Sumiyoshi-jinja Shirine] was "recruited" from the father's land after Ieyasu Tokugawa called a fisherman from Osaka and gave the land of [Tsukuda Island]. Even now, [Tsukuda] in Osaka still has a connection with [Tamino Shrine].
Until the beginning of the Meiji era, [Tamino Shrine] was also called [Sumiyoshi-jinja Shirine]. Of course, the main shrine of the [Sumiyoshi] shrine, which is said to be about 600 nationwide, is [Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine] in Osaka. In the past, the front was just the sea.
Historically, the beginning of the Sumiyoshi religion was the first enshrined Sumiyoshi Mikami (Sokotsutsu Otokomei, Nakatsutsu Otokomei, Omotetsushi Otokomei) in Fukuoka Prefecture in the current [Sumiyoshi-jinja Shirine]. It is reported that Empress Jingu later prayed for the safety of the sea during the battle and founded the present Osaka [Sumiyoshi Taisha Shrine].
At that time, I think that the theory that "sea people" represented by the [Azumino tribe] had great power, and that some clan believed in Mikami Sumiyoshi was influential. In fact, most of the [Sumiyoshi] shrines nationwide are located near the sea. Of course, it is common in West Japan, but there are also several in Kanto.
Unlike [Sumiyoshi-jinja Shirine] in Chuo-ku, there are also in Ome City and Yamanashi Prefecture in the mountains. The progress may have spread along the flow of ancient people.
It would be fun to imagine the hidden history of the shrine while thinking about such things.
