I'm still in time! Let's participate in Bon Odori in Chuo-ku

Hello. I'm Hanes, an active correspondent.
I haven't updated the article for about a month, but what I did during that time was that since I made the Bon Dance debut in late July, I participated in more than 25 Bon Dances inside and outside the city, and the summer of dance I was enjoying!
So, this time, I would like to introduce "the appeal of participating in Bon Odori in Chuo-ku" based on actual experience.
(Please see this article about "dance practice session" hosted by Chuo-ku.)

For those who want to make Bon Odori debut next year, I hope it will be a little helpful.
And there is also good information for those who are sorry that "I missed Bon Odori this year!", I hope you can read it to the end.♪

Attractive 1 An atmosphere that is easy for beginners to participate

The first attraction to participate in Bon Odori in Chuo-ku is an atmosphere that makes it easy for even first-time people to participate!
There are some exceptions, but Bon Odori is often sponsored by the Neighborhood Association, and sometimes you may be worried, "I'm an outsider, but is it okay to participate?"
However, in Chuo-ku, where many companies are concentrated and there are many tourists from Japan and overseas, not only locals but also nearby office workers and tourists participate in Bon Odori.
It should be easier to participate than you might imagine.♪

Also, don't worry if you don't know the choreography!
Outside the ward, there were some Bon dances that did not serve as models, but in the ward there are usually veteran Bon dancers who serve as models on the turret and in the center of the ring.
Of course, the first challenge of Bon Odori, "I don't know choreography, I'm embarrassing and I can't dance."... If you think so, why don't you take courage and jump into the circle?

Actually, as I did, when trying a song I didn't know, I was doing my best to look at the example and imitate the swing, and I couldn't care whether the people around me were good at dancing.
Therefore, even if you make a mistake, you won something that you enjoyed without being ashamed!
After you finish dancing, you will be able to get satisfaction saying "It was fun!"

Attractive 2 Choreography of Chuo-ku version

The next attraction to note is choreography.
One of the most exciting songs in Bon Odori is "Dancing Hero", but did you know that the choreography is a little different inside and outside Chuo-ku?

The basic swing does not change, but the part that shakes both hands up and down is a little longer in Chuo-ku!
The feature is that the venue is united by facing and aligning the eyes with those who are dancing in front, back, left and right, shouting "Heyheiheiheiheiheiheiheiheihei!" (* Of course, there are some differences depending on the venue and participants.)
Most of the local veteran dancers are taking the lead, and I'm glad that even if you participate for the first time, you can naturally get used to the circle and get excited.♪

In addition, there are choreography unique to Chuo-ku in "Kiyoshi's Zundoko-bushi" and "Ginza Kankan Musume".
If you don't know, you will be captivated by those unique and discerning glowing choreography and will want to dance many times!

Attractive 3 Scenery sung in Bon Odori classic song

In Chuo-ku, there is a Chuo-ku Ondo called "This is Edo Bon Dance", which is exciting mainly for residents living in Chuo-ku.
On the other hand, there is also a classic song of Bon Odori in Tokyo called "Tokyo Ondo", which is easy for beginners to dance, and the lyrics also sing scenery that can be enjoyed in Chuo-ku.

Hua flower is Ueno yochote
Willow is Ginza Yoiyoi
The moon is Sumida's moon is Sumida's houseboat Satte
Yatnasoleyoiyoiyoi

Bon Odori includes local songs such as "Aizu Mount Bandai", "Hanagasa Ondo", "Sado Okesa", and "Kawachi Ondo", and sometimes plays Bon Odori in Tokyo.
Every time I dance with those songs, I think, "I want to dance this song locally!"
For this reason, it is somewhat special to be able to dance "Tokyo Ondo", which is sung "Yanagi wa Ginza" and "The Moon is Sumida's houseboat" in Chuo-ku, where you can enjoy those scenery.

In fact, both "Tokyo Ondo" and "Ginza Yanagi" with poetry monument in Chuo-ku are in charge of lyrics by Yaju Saijo and Shinpei Nakayama are in charge of composition!
Certainly, when you say Ginza, there is an image of willow, but it is strangely convinced that it was sung by "Yanagi wa Ginza" and "Tokyo Ondo".
When you come to Chuo-ku for Bon Odori, it may be a good way to enjoy walking a little to "Ginza Yanagi Monument" near Ginza Nine.

It will be held soon! Two Bon Dances in late September

I hear that Bon Odori, a tradition unique to Japan, continues to be held at each town council, but many young people have never participated.
However, in recent years, it has been called "Bon Dance", etc., and it is also true that the number of participants has been expanded, such as the creation of a hit song Bon Odori, a hit song, and in collaboration with DJs and fusion with a new culture, Maiko.
There was a Bon Odori inviting DJs in the ward, but I felt that there were more venues for traditional songs and local songs.

Also, when it comes to Bon Odori, I think that there is an image from July to August of the Bon Festival Month.
However, in Chuo-ku, there are still several Bon dances in late September.
Even if you've read this article so far and want to try Bon Odori, there's still a chance.♪
