Sumo Hamacho Place! Great success‼
It's been a long time. Did you know? It's about the sumo wrestling in Hamacho. This time, it's not a story about Arashio's room. This is the story of this place. Time goes back about 70 years. The Sumo Spring Place was held at Hamacho Park in March 1949 (1949).
After the war, an autumn place was held at Ryogoku Kokugikan, which had no ceiling damaged in mid-November 1945. When we started preparing for the spring place of the following year, the Kokugikan was seized by the troops on December 26. The autumn place was held at Kokugikan, which was renamed the Memorial Hall with white repainted from November 6, 1946. In 1947, the memorial hall was not borrowed, and the summer and autumn places were held at the blue sky show at Jingu Gaien. If it rains, it will be postponed.
The Sumo Association will also consider the concept of a temporary Kokugikan, which can be performed regardless of the weather. Hamacho Park will be listed as a candidate site. Hamacho Park was metropolitan land, but was managed by the construction company Nitta Gumi. Talks with Nitta Gumi proceed on conditions such as contracting construction. However, there is no permission to construct the troops from the fire department. Finally, using non-combustible materials, permission was granted only once. The work will proceed with the piercing work, but there is also an inspection of the troops, and it will finally be completed. From January 12th, almost full day has continued. There was also a day of thanksgiving for the first time after the war. The wrestlers also worked hard, and good efforts continued. The winner was Shinyokozuna Higashi Fuji.

Next is the May place. We apply for re-use of Hamacho temporary Kokugikan to the army, but are not accepted due to the conditions of use only once. The association decided to demolish it once and make it look like it was newly constructed. We peeled off the enclosure of Hamacho Temporary Kokugikan and rebuilt the demolished part with new materials. The first day is May fifteenth. It's the first 15-day performance after the war. Ozeki Masuiyama won the championship. Masuiyama is a championship parade from Hamacho to the Dewanoumi room in Ryogoku. It's on foot.
The temporary Hamacho Kokugikan, which was a great success, was demolished only in this location. Then, from the beginning of 1950, it will be performed at the temporary Kokugikan in Kuramae.
If you are at a sports center, you may have memories of the Hamacho place. A sumo wrestler in the Arashio room, who had the scent of albaked oil, was training.
