Grand Sumo Hamacho Place! Great success‼
It's been a long time. Did you know? This is a story of Hamacho's sumo wrestling. This time, I'm not talking about the rough room. I'm talking about this place. Time goes back about 70 years. In March 1949 (1949), the sumo wrestling spring place was held at Hamacho Park.
After the war, an autumn spot was held in mid-November 1945 at Ryogoku Kokugikan without ceilings. When we started preparing for the spring place of the following year, the Kokugikan was requisitioned by the invasion on December 26. The autumn place was held at Kokugikan, which was repainted white from November 6, 1946 and renamed Memorial Hall. In 1947, the Memorial Hall was not borrowed, and the summer and autumn places were held at the blue sky show at Jingu Gaien. If it rains, it will be postponed.
The Sumo Association will also consider the concept of a temporary Kokugikan that can be performed without being affected by the weather. Hamacho Park will be raised as a candidate site. Hamacho Park was a metropolitan land, but was managed by the construction company Nitta Gumi. Talks with Nitta Gumi will proceed under conditions such as contracting construction. However, the construction permission of the advance troops is not from the point of view of fire. Finally, using non-combustible materials, permission was given only once. The work will proceed due to the sudden construction, but there is also an inspection of the advance troops, and it will finally be completed. From January 12th, almost full days have continued. There was also the first day of thanksgiving after the war. The wrestlers also worked hard, and good efforts continued. The winner was Shinyokozuna Higashi Fuji.

Next is the May place. We apply for reuse of Hamacho temporary Kokugikan to advance troops, but are not accepted due to the condition of use only once. The association decided to demolish it and make it look like it was newly constructed. We removed the enclosure of the Hamacho Temporary Kokugikan, and rebuilt the demolished part with new materials. May 15th is the first day. This is the first 15-day show after the war. Ozeki Masuiyama won the championship. Masuiyama is a championship parade from Hamacho to the Dewanoumi room in both countries. It's on foot.
The temporary Hamacho Kokugikan, which is very active, has been demolished at this location only. And from the beginning of 1950, it will be held at the temporary Kokugikan in Kuramae.
If you are in a sports center, you may have memories of the Hamacho location. The sumo wrestler in the Arashio room was training with the scent of albin oil.
