Ginza 2-chome intersection, which takes the nickname of "Luxury Cross". The Chanel Ginza Building, which occupies one corner, is designed by American architect Peter Marino, as well as the Chanel Ginza Namiki and Chanel Fine Jewelry Ginza Namiki.
With the opening of the Chanel Ginza Building (December 2004), Chanel Nexus Hall began its activities. Richard Corras, president of Chanel Nexus Hall at that time, wanted to create a place where you could experience the Chanel brand in a complex way. It seems that there was a strong feeling of the President of Chanel LLC now.

Gabrielle Chanel, the founder of Chanel, loves art and interacts with many artists, including Pablo Picasso, Salvator Dali, and Igor Stravinsky. He is known as the person who supported their activities. Chanel Nexus Hall has inherited her spirit and has developed a program centered on photography, which is an essential "art" for classical music and fashion.
“Chanel is Bigmalion. Good at drawing out human talent” psychoanalyst and the words of Claude Delay, author of her biography Coco Chanel (1983). The word "Pygmalion" is derived from Greek mythology, with the thought of a person who believes in, supports, and blooms talents. Also, in educational psychology, the phenomenon in which results are achieved by expectations of others is called the "Pygmalion effect".

Since the opening of Chanel Nexus Hall, the recital, dubbed the Chanel Pygmalion Days, has been held since the opening of the Chanel Nexus Hall. By last year, 86 young musicians had the opportunity to perform, taking a new step as a musician. This year, five young musicians played their own songs. These five include viola performers who have few opportunities to play as recitals, which can be said to be a program unique to "Chanel Pygmalion Days".
By the way, on November 30 (Thursday), December 1 (Friday), and December 2 (Sat), the first chamber music concert CHAMBER MUSIC SERIES (free admission, advance application, lottery system) is scheduled. Applications can be accepted from Tuesday, October 10 to Sunday, November 5 on the Chanel Nexus Hall website. I have not had many opportunities to listen to chamber music concerts so I would like to apply immediately.

For this blog post, “In Praise of Shadows” – We visited Chanel Nexus Hall, which is being held at the Palace of Versailles Yasumichi Morita Photo Exhibition (September 27-November 5, 2023). It is a unique project to capture and express the shadow of the Palace of Versailles, a gorgeous baroque architecture, with monochrome photographs. Among the 91 exhibited works taken over several years, such as the interior designer Yasumichi Morita, relatively many of the objects are close-up, such as the underground water tank of the fountain and the wooden structure under the opera theater. Some photos are taken behind the scenes that are not seen by tourists. Despite filming in monochrome with the theme of shade, there were some works that felt a dazzling golden light for some reason. I think I was able to see "Versailles Palace" in this photo exhibition that I could not see even if I actually visited.
Chanel Nexus Hall will celebrate its 20th anniversary in December next year. I'm not looking forward to next year's project.
