90th Anniversary Event of Mitsui Main Building

The Mitsui Main Building, which was completed in 1929 (Showa 4) as a pioneer in the complex office building, is home to the head offices of major companies that form the Mitsui Zaibatsu, Mitsui Banking Corporation (now Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank), Mitsui Mining Corporation (now Nippon Coke Corporation), and others.

In commemoration of the 90th anniversary of the museum's opening on June 15, Mitsui Main Building Mitsui Main Building Mitsui 192-2019 Tokyo Main Building TOKYO 9-Honma" will be held from June 8 to July 21. It is mainly composed of photo exhibitions photographed and supervised by photographer Takashi Honma, and allows you to experience the charm of a building representing the early Showa era, which has been designated as a national important cultural property through photographs and videos.

The venue will be the entrance of an office called the "Joint Entrance" (upper left image) facing the Bank of Japan Street, where the massive marble appearance remains, and the atrium on the first floor of Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower, which is adjacent to the Mitsui Main Building. The photos of four oversized panels with a height of about 3m and a width of about 2m at the Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower venue are impressive. On the outer wall of the Mitsui Main Building facing Chuo-dori, two large 8.4m square photographs of precious archives containing the situation at the time of construction are posted, and the area around the building is decorated with colorful flowers.

From sunset to 23:00, it will be illuminated by artist Masata Takahashi.
