History of Meijiza 150 Years

150-year history of Meijiza The 150th anniversary of the opening of Meijiza "Marutto Meijiza"

1873 (Meiji 6) - Kishoza opened on the banks of Nihonbashihisamatsucho.
1879 (Meiji 12)-A major renovation and renamed Hisamatsu-za.
1885 (Meiji 18)-New construction opened under the name of Chitoseza.
1893 (Meiji 26)-The first Ichikawa Sadanji acquired Chitoseza and became the seat, and was renamed Meijiza.
1923 (Daisho 12) - burned down by the Great Kanto Earthquake.
1928 (Showa 3) - Moved to Hamacho and rebuilt.
1945 (Showa 20) - burned down by the Great Tokyo Air Raid.
1950 (Showa 25) - Established Meijiza Co., Ltd. It was rebuilt.
1993 - Shin-Meijiza opened in Hamacho Center Building.
2023 (Reiwa 5)-Meijiza 150th anniversary performance will be held.
